I have a humax box. Apparently if I nework it I can get BBC iPlayer on it.

It obviously has a ethernet connection on the back for an RJ45 cable, but can I use some sort of wireless thingy instead?

Not as far as i am aware currently. You can run a lead from one of a pair of mains broadband enabled 3-pin mains plugs and connect similarly from your modem to the other plug and a nearby mains socket. Many people report slow speeds so unless you are getting at least 6Megabits/sec speeds, forget it!
I very much doubt this will work.

A couple of weeks ago, the BBC switched to flash for its iPlayer and there is now an issue with its use in many open source devices.

In XBMC it works for about 1 minute, then dies because its expecting a ping back from the device for authority to use flash content. Its indirectly the BBC to blame for switching, but ultimately its Adobe.
You'll need a Ethernet Wireless Bridge,

I have one going spare if you are interested. £40 Delivered.

Used to use it on my ethernet only computer. Have since changed to a wired network.
