Wireless Internet keeps dropping (Limited Connection)

joshjwjoshjw

I wondering if anyone can help me out with my wifi problem. Basically, what happens, is, every 30-40 minutes or so, my Laptop disconnects from the internet and shows the symbol with a yellow triangle in front of it, saying Limited Access.

I don't know how to fix this.

My wifi is Intel Centrino wireless-N 2230.

    so, the basics:

    1, newest wireless drivers installed?
2, is it the only device that does this on the wireless network?
3, does it disconnect on other wireless networks?
4, have you checked the power plan settings - to make sure it's not set to disconnect after given time?
    5, newest router firmware?

I forgot to ask, when did the issue start to occur?

have you changed any settings beforehand? installed any SW, added device to your network etc.?

ok, now I'd recommend to update the router's firmware, restart both router and laptop and that should be it. I hope.

sounds like a problem with your phone line..... try a new filter on it, if that doesnt work change the modem wire you are using or get a new one, rj45 i think the cable is called, if that doesnt work then ring your isp and they will ask you to connect to the master socket and they will know the exact problem wether its their fault or a problem with your line where you will need to call out your phone provider to fix it

or.... try changing the security settings on your router , i.e : change your password

or...... your wireless adapter on your laptop/pc might be faulty

try connecting to the router with a wired connection, plug one end of a lan cable into the lan port of the laptop and the other into any port on the back of the router. If you still have problems then its the router or your ISP.

I just read that you recently got the laptop, the wireless adapter may be switched off. Press the Fn key and one of the F keys along the top of the keyboard. You will see symbols on the F keys and one should look like an aerial giving out a signal (mines F2),

If it was.a problem with the phone line the WiFi would still be 'connected', but it would give a dsl connection error. That's what's been happening with mine. Noise on the phoneline appears to be dropping the dsl connection, 3 engineers later and it still isn't 100%

Thankyou for all this feedback, this is great. I will try these out to see if it works, will report back here if it does or not :)
