Can someone give me some advice as to the best replacement for my Netgear DG834G which I have been using for the last 5 years or so. I would really like something which is slightly future-proofed and which is reliable.

Any particular reason you want to upgrade to N router? You also have to make sure your computer is compatible with a n router. Coming back to ADSL2+ modem, that inbuilt into DG834G modem and is compatible with 21CN upgrade. If 100ft distance is not an issue, I would suggest staying with DG834G as it is very rugged and trusty bit of kit.

Most of my devices are N standard and I would like to be able to use them in some rooms where currently the signal doesn't reach. I was looking at the Linksys WAG320N which has just come out but there don't seem to be many reviews around yet. I like the ability of being able to attach a usb hard drive and use it as a media server.

Looks like a sexy bit of kit but the reviews are very mixed. I wonder if it's a firmware issue.

whos your isp ? if its o2/be then dont get the Linksys WAG320N, ive tested 2 and had slow throughput issues with them. it shows the correct sync speed (14meg) but only got 1 or 2 meg throughput.

I am with Talk Talk, synching at 8 meg with throughput of about 7 meg. Attenuation on the line is currently 27db but my noise margin is pretty low at 7/8db.
