Hi there,

Looking for some advice on the best wireless router to buy. The one we have is crap and old and keeps dropping the connection and getting tiring having to switch on and off all the time.
We will need one that can take 2 xboxes, 2 itouches, 2 laptops and a pc.
We are on Virgin broadband with 10mb but get about 9 download speed.

Any input would be very much appreciated from you techy guys :O)

Are you sure it is dropping the connection because it is old. Unless it's broke it's more likely to be something that has changed, such as software changes or interference from somewhere. What drops connection your wifi connection or your INTERNET connection? How often? Do you have a wired connection setup, and does this work fine all the time?

You would be better off to do some diagnosis before just buying a new router as it may not solve your problem. One thing you can do is to take the router out of the eqation for a while and see if all your connection problems go away. Another would be to put your router up high where it can broadcast further and give a better signal.

BTW what router do you have and have you updated to the latest firmware?

You'll need to create a thread in FS if you're going ahead with this, All offers and acceptance would have to be in there. Thanks.

+1. Make sure you are running the latest firmware before deciding on buying a new one. In most cases a firmware update solves this sort of problems.
