Are taking over my life...no not the TV series but wires for charging phones, cameras, Ipods, then wires for downloading / uploading for the same items. Driving me nuts. Have labelled each one with a marker but still can never get the right one for the right job in the right place. .

I have heard that within 2 yrs, all mobile chargers will be the same....whatever the model, why don't they do the same with all computer stuff???

Any fantastic tips on where / how to store all the paraphinalia and organise my electronic life?

Coil the chargers etc up and keep in place with a rubber band. Store them in a box or drawer and you're sorted. Just keep putting them away when not in use. The additional effort will yield a tidier desk!

Nope, that way I have to uncoil them all to see which one I am looking for.....big mess.

Nonsense, just look for the right connector at the end. Most of my plugs are fairly different in shape and size anyway, so it takes no time to find it.

If you have the plug labelled, then you should be able to read the back of it anyway without having to uncoil, depending how you coil it.

I get around the hassle of having so many wires (and as a nerd, I have a lot) by feeding almost everything out of something else. Thus, my phone gets charged from the USB port of my Sky+ box, the half-dozen gadgets and things I use near my computer are wired directly into my computer (the power supply inside a computer basically is just a giant multi-voltage adaptor, so with some cable hacking, it can power pretty much anything), and I use a solar panel I bought cheap from Homebase as a battery charger. Things like my laptop are still a bit of a problem, but I have a small collection of power supplies for it, so the cable can be discreetly slipped away in most of the places in the house that I'm likely to use it.

By the way, if you're a guitarist, I can seriously recommend AKG's Guitar Bug wireless system. They're about £120, but they're so worth it. It's great not being tethered to an amp.

When you do get one, make sure to have 999 on speed-dial for when it all goes up in flames.

I figure a wicker or willow basket would look nice.

Can you drill holes in them?

you'll obviously get a better finish with a drill but may manage to make holes with a hammer and large nail then make larger? Or how about burning a hole? Just suggestions, I am definately going to make something like that.

Thanks. So far all a bit cheap and tacky looking, plastic, cheap wood. Thinking of something more stylish

gear4 world tour dual charge.
You get one plug head with adaptors for different countries as well, plus it has 2 usb ports so you can connect phone, camera, ipod etc. and charge them at the same time. This way you only need to carry the uploading wire for each device (if they can be charged via usb). Saves room when traveeling to. Think its 15 quid at play.
