I struggle to care too much about politics, but I voted for the first time yesterday, so have been watching the results come in.

So far: What a shocker for Labour. They're gonna end up losing everything at this rate!

Brown out. How can he possibly stay. So far its even worse than the already shockingly bad predictions!

I'm truly amazed that with these results, the carnage in his cabinet not to mention the recession or the expenses scandals that he has the nerve to actually remain in power.

I wouldn't be surprised if him and his power/money hungry cabinet and mp's dream up some emergency legislation to change our constitution to keep him in power longer than next year. Trust me that'll be their next tactic, due to the recession or some as yet to happen emergency they'll force through powers which will give him the power to stay indefinetly in times of crisis.

If you take a step back and look at Gordon Brown, he really is in the middle of a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions.

Here is a man who has coveted the PM position for many years, had to watch as his 'friend' has led the country through years of economic prosperity and when his time finally comes, everything comes crumbling down.

You can understand why he's reluctant to go. He'd be the first PM in history to never contest an election and will be viewed as one of the least successful leaders this country has ever known.

I actually feel sorry for him.

You may well be right - I was trying to heighten the drama by changing a few facts:oops:

I do feel sorry for Brown though. He seems a decent man, but just overwhelmed by the perfect storm that would've brought down any man in the job.

Dont think any election should be called before all the MPs expenses have been revealed. If one is called now there may still be loads of MPs that have kept beneath the parapet. Lets get it all out in the open. Then can start to really think of next steps.

DC obviously wants a quick election cos nothing to lose really from his point of view. And if he became PM more free advertising for his wife and Mother In Law. Think I read that when he has cameras into his house he is surrounded by furniture from MILs store

I voted by adding a little box on the bottom of the ballot paper with the words "NONE OF THE ABOVE

At least I have exercised my democratic right to vote and voted with my conscience.
