Some may find the image disturbing.

The mum only got 260 hours community. Is it me or is that a ridiculous punishment? Let me know what you think.

Community service is what you get for beating someone up these days.

Was reading my local paper the other day and a guy got jail (1 or 2 years, I can't remember..) for criminal damage he caused during a G20 protest but on another page, a guy who beat the hell out someone else got a suspended sentence.

I keep seeing instances where violence gets you the 'lesser' punishment of unpaid work or a suspended sentence but fraud, theft and other money related crimes get you a prison sentence. Personally I'd rather see a thug locked up than a thief.

Well beatings are rarely unprovoked, in cases like this do you not suspect drugs may have been involved and the victims can't say oh I owed them money for drugs, their house will get searched and then THEY will go to prison, or the victims had disrespected the other persons family some how.

Near me 4 blokes broke into a house beat two people up nicked a car off a person in the street, someone in the house jumped out the 1st floor window fearing for her life. Well it was drugs, the house got searched and now they are going to prison.

+1. There are, almost invariably, two sides to every story. But, newspapers rarely, if ever, tell more than a bit of one side that suits their agenda. The trouble is too many people take what's in the papers at face value rather than thinking about what has been reported and why.

the law is an ass... how can this be right when someone travelling too fast down an empty motorway can be put away for three months?
