Wondering why there are so many good laptop deals at the moment?

Dont really know why I'm posting this as I've never posted on the discussions on here. but thought i'd give a little back as HUKD have given me tons of bargains in the last few years.

Basically my best mate is quite senior within a major electronics manufacturer you'll have all heard of.

The story is because December was so rubbish weather-wise in the UK, the retailers warehouses were still full so they cancelled all their orders with the manufacturers. Apparently Acer, Samsung and HP have in excess of 50,000 laptops they need to get rid of by April (new Tax Year)

This ties in with why you'll notice lots of deals from the above manufacturers on here.

In a nutshell there'll be plenty more deals floating around till roughly the end of March. According to him theres never been a better time in the UK to be buying a laptop.

Hope this helps :)

Another reason for the drop in price of laptops is that a few years ago it was a "luxury" item that mainly only business people used, so they could charge top dollar for it.

Now it is a commodity item (and there are many companies making them and competing for the same sale) so like all electronic items, the price drops and drops.

I remember a year or so back the cheapest laptop you could get was around £400, then it dropped to about £350, then £300, and now they are as low as £275 or £250.

This is the fate of all electronic items.

not wanting to defend him because of his apalling attitude(sometimes/often) but dcx does generally know what he is talking about better than some of the other muppets i see posting, but back on topic

the tablet explosion is about to happen, volume production means they either shift em or get stuck with em..

Thanks for the thread hijack.

Reminds me why i never post on here.

I contribute to many forums and sometimes i do find hukd to be the least friendliest.

Over and out folks.

Far from it. Its unique this year that we had the bad weather in Dec and a VERY major retailer had to cancel its orders.

Will it happen again next year? not so sure.

fanpages has a doppelganger oO

First point: Of course he can - if he communicates with other reps within his own industry then why not? (my friend does - and he does it well)

Of course the weather will affect sales. Online sales are a fraction of 'real world' sales.

finally, as guilbert53 said above, look at the price drops. they will.

Oh come on, just look at the sheer *volume* of laptop and netbook offers that have come up on hukd over the last, say 6 weeks. You certainly cant deny that and explains where i was coming from.

I came on here in good spirit with a view to sharing info with others. If you it makes you feel better constantly trying to rubbish this thread, just carry on. It'll end up making you look mean-spirited in the end, and when you want advice on which coffee you're going to buy next I'll make sure i dont contribute :)

lol, is this why the highstreet stores are struggling to be competitive with the online retailers then?
There are no more deals around now than at the same time last year and im sure you could go back for a good few years more than that.
