Woolworths Closing Down Sale LAST DAY

My local Woolworths closed today and in the last 2 hours everything (admit not much good left....) was down to 20% of original price, then in the last hour it dropped to 10%. Hundreds of people in the store looking for that last minute bargain but may be worth a last look. Cd's, computer games was particularily busy. Another post listed staggered closing dates for all stores and I think the last one closes 5th January.

Thank you so so so much. You're a star, I had no idea Woolworths were closing down and 20% off everything is such a mega saving I'm gonna pop in now. I'm suprised there aren't more threads to make people aware of this brilliant deal, this is news to me.

and thanks for posting op and welcome to HUKD however, you've just told us the inevitable really so prepared to get really cold

to be honest, I wouldnt think the woolworths closing down prices any more of a normal sale.

When i went in there, there were some bizarre products, but the normal dvd's etc. Had nothing but a couple of quid off. Doing nothing more than bring the prices in line with the competition.

I think he meant it was 20% of the original price (i.e. 80% off) ....without an "upto" insight ;-)

80% off can only be HOT.

Some shops have far more left than others - but I got a £40 dress for my niece for £7, a pair of beach sandals for £1 and two mugs to match my ex's dinner set for £2.

I bet fans will end up at £1 or £2 on the last day - as there is no demand in winter.

They are also likely to have hundreds of pairs of reading glasses left when they close - which I intend to go in and buy a tenner or twenty quids worth and donate to the charity that accepts glasses to send to Africa.

Prices WERE 20% - so 80% off - not 20% off.

Not if its more of the plastic tat they already sell. Woolies sall off must be the worst of all time. But then again, their top brass bled the shop dry of all the profit made over the good years so I guess its no suprise.

Just back from Walton where it was 90% off from 3pm.

Got some dvds, blurays, ps3 games and loads of toys and sweets.

A few of the things were impulse purchases and will probably be sold on or exchanged but at under £2 per bluray and under £3 for most ps3 games, I should be able to get something I actually want from Cex. :whistling:

Sounds good. When I went all they had was plastic rubbish and nowt else reduced.

I like their web site "Our site is currently undergoing essential maintenance. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Please check back later."

Muwhahahahahahaaa - what is the essential maintenance? Paying the bill? Whats the point if they are closing down.

Woolworths was full of overpriced random rubbish before they even started going bankrupt, now that everyone and their dog have stripped the shelves of anything remotely good, the chances of there being anything worth buying at this late hour must be very low .........

Hi. I went to the Nuneaton branch today and everything had gone. I think people were taking fixtures and fittings too! Here's a pdf of final closing days across the country, if you haven't already seen it.

It does not always work as planned.

In the 90s I went round all the charity shops in Glasgow buying cuddly toys, and took them to a childrens home. Unfortunately, they said they were unable to take that type of donation - so they went to a charity collecting for Romanian orphans.

So if you do plan on doing it - its worth checking that who you intend offering the items to is willing to accept them - as you feel an entire ***** when they dont.
