Yes my company has them.
I don't go as I can't stand being in the office with some of these plebs let alone spending an evening with them too.

Yes... and the least said about this year's party the better! If I am still with the same firm next year I won't be attending the Xmas doo!

Tomorrow in Salford we are having a meal, they're giving everyone £30 each for a meal and drinks.People are complaining they just want the money and they cant keep what they don't spend which means more booze for the ones who stay longer.

I do.
It really depends on the people and the company you work for.
Without giving too much away, I use to work for a major car company and their parties were amazing.
Where I now work, whilst the people are great, the Christmas party is just a small dinner, the company doesn't really have the budget for renting out a hotel and having a proper Christmas party :(

had to pay £5 for a seat on a coach there and back, not an open bar but everything else was paid up by them. I think it was a pretty awesome night from what i remember lol oO

Okay, I'll elaborate... the meal was lovely, but the excessive drinking lead to two staff members having a massive argument which is still unresolved weeks later... and two others had a fight, and the partner of one of the pugilists then got involved too... and it's a fairly small team... it was horrid to be a witness to it really. :(

My partner has a Christmas party at the brewery he works at. Free drinks, 4 course meal. A lottery scratch card each and Entertainment . Always a good night.

What a let down, was expecting tales of sex and debauchery involving yourself. oO

Chance would be a fine thing! That would have made my year, never mind making a good tale X)

My new place does, it was the same night as my boys birthday. So I didn't go. I don't drink, so most parties turn gruesome at some point...

My work haven't even booked 2013's Xmas party yet. Seriously, an email went round about it yesterday.

When I was teaching we used to have a party every year, meal, Secret Santa etc. All had to pay for their own food and drink but we had a good laugh. I used to organise it so don't know what they do now.
As I'm retired now, my elderly neighbour and I went out for lunch at Sainsburys last week. Two Christmas dinners for £9 and a cup of tea each! Not quite the same but we enjoyed our "work`s do"!! :)

Used to have some fantastic Christmas parties, but we got outsourced so now we all work all over the country and don't get together for a party. It's a shame...

had my Christmas party last week and took my girlfriend ordered large posh vodkas all night as boss was sitting at other end of table and only said beer and wine which we don't drink and with three course meal everything was paid for at a guess £300 (we had to pay the taxi) Ps the boss can afford it he has just bought a 2 million pound house. (good night)
