World book day...need a costume idea...

My little un has to sort out a costume based on a book character. Yes, another load of money to spend as if I don't have enough 'open wallet surgery' going on at the moment anyway!

Does anyone have any (cheap) ideas?

It's for a girl aged 5.

Cheers all

My kids have to dress up too. They are going to pick one of the dress up costumes they already have then find a book relating to it lol

Daughter wants to go as a cheerleader from High School Musical and my son is going to wear his cowboy costume and say he is Woody from Toy Story.

She could go as Lola from Charlie and Lola

its a right royal pain in the backside, this school lark costs me a fortune with discos, cakestalls, non uniform day etc, they even charge a "VOLUNTARY" contribution for swimming lessons and school trips which if u dont pay your child is not aloud to participate in , i thought our tax s were for all this ?

It is non stop. I don't mind paying out for important things, but this is becoming beyond a joke. It's one thing after another isn't it.

Time for me to trudge out my story about how wicked my mother is!!

When i was about 9 we had one of these at our school, my mum never bothered with it and as i was leaving the door she gave me a wooden spoon and told me to say i was 'George' from George's Marvellous Medicine
