Elaine - I saw a World Cup sweepstake kit available for download off the web earlier...it's here:

http://www.webuser.co.uk/specials/469677/2010-world-cup-sweepstake

I can't open it now - the network at work is blocking it - but it may contain instructions/ It will certainly contain things to cut up for the draw etc...

Hope that helps?!?

Better than a sweepstake.

We are making ours a bit more interesting by only having 8 in the sweep. Each then gets a whole group which means that you should all get a team that gets to the quarter finals. The problem with 'normal' sweeps is that if you choose say New Zealand you have absolutely no interest straight from the off.

How much are you having for a group?

Winner takes all?

£10 in, £50 to the winner, £20 runner up, £10 to the team who score most goals.

One person may still win it all but at least it doesn't matter who you pick you have a chance.

Try and think of some thing different to the usual sweep then as at least half the teams don't have a prayer of winning it meaning that as soon as you pull out a team it is over.

Maybe set a fair chunk of the pot out for 'lowest goals team' 'lowest points team' 'first out of the competition' etc. At least if you pull out New Zealand you may still win something then.

Stop picking on poor New Zealand!! :)

and some extra special prizes for
most bookings per team
who gets sent off first
best dive

we usually have the winner and the worst team in the sweep, worst team is the team who loses the most games and lets in the most goals, adds a bit more fun to it
#15
Why not split it into 16 entries? £10 each.

Each person gets a good team and 1 "bad" team. Cos it would be a scunner if you got North Korea and New Zealand.

The most games lost for any team would be 3.
So really, it's only the goals you are betting on.

Ok why not do a similar one to us and each person picks 4 teams (with one seeded and 3 others) and you work out a points system for getting so far, the one with the most combined points of the 4 teams wins.

You could even go by one of the bookies odds rankings and split the 32 into 4 groups of 8, each picks a team from each one of these groups and will therefore end up with 1 very good, 1 good, one average and 1 useless team.

These are William Hills latest ranked odds to win it, each person picks one team from each group of eight.

Spain
Brazil
Argentina
England
Holland
Germany
Italy
France
-------------
Portugal
Ivory Coast
Serbia
Chile
USA
Cameroon
Paraguay
Mexico
---------------
Uruguay
Ghana
Nigeria
South Africa
Australia
Denmark
Greece
Switzerland
--------------------
South Korea
Slovakia
Japan
Slovenia
Algeria
Honduras
New Zealand
North Korea

Maybe do 4 points for winning group down to 1 point for finishing last and then 2 points for every subsequent round the team played in. Highest total for all 4 teams wins.

Well yes, you would go by losses as the most fail, then by goals let in, or visa versa...

Our work have just done theirs...bit boring, just the normal pick a team and if they come 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th you win some money. £2 a go and i got South Africa.

I have Paraguay. I cannot lose.

Paid £2 so if I win I will get £64, but if I lose I can be content with knowing that a few players will have been shot for failing to perform.

Well worth £2.

At least you'll have the refs on your side. If they let SA lose they'll be shot or burned alive in their bunks
