How many times in an office ,shop or factory do several people call in sick ? Train companies can only have so many train crew on spare/ standby . Compared with other occupations its suprising it doesn't happen more often.

I recently encountered "The 7:26 train to St Pancras has been delayed by 69 minutes due to a delay on a previously delayed train".

I used to catch the 7am From Bolton to Piccadilly and then From Piccadilly to Wythenshawe, Its a 30 minutes drive MAX! in 2 years the journey never ever was on time, i arrived at work constantly late so much so i had to change my hours to start later and finish later, there was never an excuse given, I bet to this day that trai is still late.

Nope. Entirely accurate, unfortunately.

I am so looking forward to the changes to London Bridge that start next week & are scheduled to finish in January 2018.

There must be a team of people thinking up excuses in advance.

Wrong type of leaves on the track.

"An issue has occurred on our rail line therefore the train will be delayed by approx 30 min" I was like that's a bull**** excuse. Then I read a news article about some body found on the railway track, not sure if it was from the same day or not but I felt bad lol

Not an announcement of delay but an announcement saying "the next train arriving at platform 3 will be........."

errm we only have 2 platforms at Chesterfield, everyone just looked around at each other with a WTF expression.

I now live in Herts after living in London and the Liverpool Street train has 3 staple excuses . Usually someone's nicked the copper wiring , but the regular best is -

1) a cow /cows (still alive , just mooching around ) on the line .

I was stuck on a train between kings cross and hatfield (a 20 minute journey) for 3 hours because the signalling went done at finsbury park! during rush hour too! And the train was full and everyone was sweating on each other! That was the worst for me

I don't know, its got to be better than those indian ones where people are hanging on the outside sweating on each other whilst hanging on for your life, if you peel the people off you will probably see its sponsored by Red Bull

Merseyrail regularly cancel trains if they are running a few minutes late, so they can fiddle their figures to look good. One time they made an announcement that a train was running late due to a delayed train from another train operator, when they run on their own segregated network!
