99.9% of the people who complained did not listen to the show so it isn't really a triumph for good taste but a triumph for mob mentality.

This seems to be nearly as big an overreaction as the Americans had to Janet Jacksons nipple.

Good friend who works for the BBC, his phone is hot today!
Dont agree with triumph for good taste and decency though-a bit over the top methinks:?

It's such a shame because they both can be very good but as we all know they both go to the extreme, way over the top ... & put them together .... it was asking for trouble imo !!
#11
They were polling people and it loooks like the older generation wanted blood where younger people couldn't give a t*ss
#12
If anyone got the Daily Mail this morning have a look inside and if you read it - its all Ross - brand only says a few things but its Ross who takes it over the edge
#13
Cant believe Wossy would walk away from a £17million contract. Brand took the fall and lost his £200K contract possibly to save Wossy having to walk away from his mega contract. nudge-nudge-wink-wink!

If BBC terminate Wossys contract im sure they would have to pay him off!

True, there were less than 5 complaints until a national newspaper printed an articale on it and within several days the number of complaints had jumped to over 20,000. I think now its up at somewhere around 30,000.

Personally I dont like either Brand or Ross, never have done. If anything they are guilty of a harrassing phone call, albeit a pretty crude one at that, and apparently Brand had slept with the grand daughter to its not as if it was made up. A rude phone call that some would see tasteless, or a cheap laugh....anybody can do that...doesnt need to be some celebrity..I'd complain on the basis that this is the carp we get for out BBC license money more than anything else.
#15
i think they went to far and agree with liddl ol' me
#16
Jonathon ross is a good host but some of the things he says are just disgusting and shouldnt be on tv - e.g when he said to david cameron - did you fantasis about f***ing maggie thatcher" i mean come on

brand was alright on big brother and i think he knows where the line is and i think its all ross - i think it would be good to get rid of him - get a new host on film 2008 as hes quite boring and doesnt really tell you if the films good or not - hes like jeremy clarkson - THIS CAR HANDLES LIKE A PIECE OF FISH
#17
if in any other profession you did what they did, you would lose your job; simple as that.
#18
I dont think what they did was right and i dont agree with what they did but I think if it was on Channel 4 on a Friday night there would be no complaints at all!

rofl at this whole thing, really cudnt care less, dunno why ppl complain, got nout better to do with their lives, i think ppl do this for a living, see something on tv or on radio and get excited when they can complain about it. Losers. Dont like either of em dont find them funny, but dont think they should have been sacked pc these days, ridiculous.

i dont think my moral standards are low-i find a lot of things on TV offensive-but not Jonathan Ross-i wouldnt make any effort to watch him but find him humorous, and often entertaining, if i do. Dont you think this was just a prank got out of hand?

moral standards my bottom, the older generation found just as offensive stuff funny in their day, often very racist comedians which would outrage nowadays

some people just aint happy unless they are complaining

I've went on the OFcom site to email in a complaint against Ofcom for allowing so many that did not watch or listen to the show to cause such a fuss and risk Ross and Brands careers for an offence that justified a minor slap on the wrist at best.

Hey if the mob can do it so can I.
#33
Jonathan Ross is amazing I think. This is half the BBC's fault, as starsparkle said, it was a pre-recorded radio show which SHOULD have been checked by the BBC, yet they let it go ahead. I heard on my local radio that Ross had apologised in person to Sachs, handed flowers and the works, Brand said he hadn't as of yet because he was too embarrased. At the end of the day, the BBC pay Ross a hell of a lot, I reckon his notice being handed in is a way to frighten the BBC into losing viewing figures and a very popular chat show.

I didn't listen to the show, but that doesn't mean I can't now think it's wrong.

I've never seen a murderer ( As far as I know ) but that doesn't make what they do right just 'cos I didn't see it.

But you could not testify and be used as evidence in a prosecution.

Ofcom have taken the complaints seriously even though only five are actual 'witnesses'.

But I could sit on a jury, and presented with the evidence, I think what they did was wrong.

I'm not saying I agree with the punishment though.

But to be presented with the evidence would be to listen to the show and would therefore take you out of the uninformed mob who are fuelling the press furore and put you in the same group as the original five who legitimately complained after hearing the show. You can actually youtube it if you wish.

Just thought I'd mention that the grand-daughter is represented by Max Clifford.
