A lot of it is down to your broadband connection, who are you with?

orange, my area can only have 2meg and with speed tests its running very slightly under that

I dont think making either of these better would help, your internet connection would help if it was increased and maybe your GPU card (but I doubt that would help)

True, i was having problems with bbc iplayer recently,i im wireless with Virgin and i get about 6 meg download, recently they have tweaked iplayer and it doesnt do the usual buffer problems anymore,

What are your up & down speeds?

correct, so are those test results normal for having that speed, as i was expecting (not understanding these things, you understand) either one of those to read 10 meg, realisticley maybe 6-8meg.

It all depends on what stream you're watching, take this match for example;

Pachuca v Jaguares

The higher the bitrate the higher the quality

If you speed is only 388 KB/sec then go with a bit rate lower than that, if you want a better quality stream upgrade your broadband.

I've just done mine and it is 879.4 KB/sec at the moment and I can play most streams.

Some programs are just better quality anyway, media player links like JustinTV are generally rubbish, Sopcast and TVants are good, Veetle is excellent.

I wouldn't bother upgrading your monitor or graphics card but it's worth a mention that when I connect my PC to my TV the picture on the TV always looks much better.
