The problem with Sega is that they haven't got a clue when it comes to marketing thier consoles these days.
The Dreamcast was a great machine but it died because Sega advertised it badly.
I'd love to see a new console from them too, but I think they've realsied that their strengths are in software (they certainly make good games) so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Think they said they're only gonna make software now.

I loved Sega apart from the Saturn that wasn't that great, Dreamcast was so good but they didn't make enogh games, Poor marketing and Sony killed Sega.

I'd love a Sega comeback but it isn't going to happen.

nah what killed the dreamcast was it was cracked instantly with no need for even a modchip or drive flash to play backups.

I've still got my DC around here somewhere, mint too.

All the more reason to buy one then.

It was entirely down to segas poor marketing of a truly great machine that was way ahead of its time.

Theres no chance they'll enter the console market again, with sony, microsoft and that gay wii thing having a virtual stranglehold over the market.

which is a pity as I think they are lost to the console world, maybe microsoft could give them a shout when they are cming up with any improvements to the 360. They might even come up with something that doesn't burn its insides every 6 months. lol

Ahh I my original SEGA Upstairs.. because Tertris, Pac-Man, Sonic and Toe Jam and Earl are unbeatable by my xbox on some days, Unfortunatly SEGA were bought out by Nintendo, meaning they can use sonic and everything in there games. The nintendo Wii is the next gen console your after - Lets face it, its a world hit!

Sega's consoles were usually very solid, I remember throwing my master system 2 out the loft window and it survived.

Alex the Kid FTW.

Master System is around here too, though no idea where.

yep my megadrive still works to this day despite being dropped hundreds of times and even survived a nail polish remover spill over the front of it. left some cool battle type scars

I hear Earthworm Jim is coming out on the Wii!

The Saturn was fantastic! even games that came out on PS1 were better on Saturn due to it being more powerful, faster loading etc.

Then there was greats like the VF series, Virtua Cop, Daytona, Shining Force 3, Panzer Dragoon series, Sonic Jam, Sonic 3D, Capcom games, Clockwork Knight and loads more.

It just didnt have the catalogue of PS1 games.

Saturn was far to expensive when it was released, It was £499 when it first came out, It was what cause the big software giants to pull out of making games for either the Saturn and Dreamcast when that came out, It basically caused the end of Sega.

In truth the Saturn was a decent console but failed

1. Because it's internal cpu's made it harder to program games.

2. Because Sega's relationship with some developers dwindled, Most notably EA.

I had a Saturn and really liked it, Wipeout was better on the Saturn than it was on Playstation and Virtual Fighter made Tekken look pants.

I just hate the fact that Sega are no longer making consoles and they caused their own downfall when they didn't market the Saturn correctly, I have a love/hate relationship with the Saturn.
