It's the one I'm using at the moment!
I can post full specs if needed but its a Acer Aspire 5102WLMi,
its deemed as faulty because it can just crash randomly and the screen goes blank and I have to reset it.
I don't know what the fault is, but maybe someone with a knowledge of computers could fix this?
How much would people want to pay?
Also it comes with a Vista premium upgrade disc :)

I'd offer £100 if it were to be sold on fs/ft forum

Sounds like its a vista problem, i had same problem till i upgraded , well downloaded & installed vista ultimate, then i had no problems with machine crashing

I personally wouldn't use Vista.. totally ****! Stick to XP and your laughing..

the laptop in question is what im using at present, and for an Acer (about 3yrs old), it aint bad at all..

just format it, stick on XP as a say, maybe Office 2003 (2007 is ****), and you can use it as an home/office laptop, maybe to watch movies as well, or to design website (using the correct software) :whistling:

Stick it on fs/ft to get intrest. expired/spammed.

Please do not sell it here in the Misc forum. Please start a thread in FS/FT and request this one to be closed before selling! Thanks!

I think he is just gauging interest at the mo to see whether its worthwhile taking photo's to post and sorting out a full description, getting postal costs and all the other niggly bits before you even think of putting in fs/ft.

Have you tried other o/s's on it jacko? does sound as though its a software issue, maybe with xp on it it would be suitable to either carry on using or even sell for its proper price? I assume it originaly shipped with XP? If so there would be no licence issues if you install XP as it should have a coa underneath?

I have uninstalled Vista and just have XP on and it still does it unfortunately
#12
Yeah its shipped with XP MCE
#13
how can you un-install vista...was you dual booting ? could be your problem there....i would try a clean install and see if it still has the same problem
#14
I think I might do that but I dont have any geniune copys of Xp? apart from the one that came on the laptop

It's not a problem... I was just reminding you of it as there was an offer in the first reply.

if you was dual booting vista and xp i would do a clean install of the xp mce that came with the laptop just to see if it corrects the issue. If not then there's deff a fault somewhere and if it does then you have a perfectly good laptop that you could possibly get a bit more cash for if you were to still sell it

hmm, have you tried checking the ram?

If you cant find a ram tester (think vista has one) - Then open the machine up and take one of the sticks out and leave it with one, if it crashes, put the other one in on its own. Assuming it has 2 that is.

Sounds like a RAM issue because my vista has NEVER crashed like that. Im not out of the woods tho cos I do have other issues lol

I'm not using vista anymore, and it still crashes and I only have one stick of ram

I think there is a good chance its a ram issue.
