Would this work to connect my new TV to the internet?

I bought the Sony Bravia KDL40EX403U a few weeks back:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003BVI4C6/

It has internet TV so you can watch iplayer and stuff on it.

I was wondering if this would work to connect it to the internet:
Have my laptop connected to the internet through wi-fi then connect an ethernet cable from my laptop to the TV?

My router is about 30 metres away from the tv upstairs and I don't want to move it.

Thanks

Yes that would work.

It doesn't seem to be working. Any idea how to get it to work?

I don't want to be spending a lot of money. If I can connect it the way I said in my post it would cost nothing.

A cheap way to connect your TV is to use a wireless bridge - this means you won't need to leave your laptop turned on:

(replace **** with ebay)
