Would You Buy a MILLION Gallons Of Gas....If

You had four million dollars? In 3 years they suspect gas to hit 8-10 dollars a gallon. You are filthy rich and have the means of stock piling the one million gallons. In three years if economists are correct gas will hit 10 dollars a gallon. You can then make a deal with a gas company like Hess or whatever to sell the gas through them at 8 dollars a gallon. Hess will do it because it will put a huge boost back in their in store sales and even if they dont you can find a way to sell it somewhere anyhow cause people will be rioting for it.

100% return of your investment. Would you risk your 4 mill to make 4 more in 3 years?

if it were possible, of course you would, 100% return on investment in 3 years is a staggeringly good deal when you're talking about millions - but - petrol has a shelf-life, in 3 years it'd have 'gone off' and be no use to anyone (unless theres a means of storing it long term? I'm happy to be corrected!)

I think I'd invest my 4mil in crude oil ;)

If you're paying millions of dollars, typically they would happily accept anything aslong as they could turn it into their currency...;)

It's a mug's game right now, part of the reason for the increase is due to speculators doing the above. However, they of course don't buy it in that sense, they buy the volume of condensate in the ground. You couldn't store that amount of petrol very easily and at the end of it, you would end up having to add a fair few diluents to meet spec.

Remember, the country does it with gas, but that's a shorter term of storage.

just buy an oil options contract lets say $200 a barrel for xmas 2008, you never see the oil its all on paper, millions are made this way, or trade in oil futures.
