Would you complain?

Went to my local Subway(about 2 minutes walk from the house!) at 6.45 15 minutes before closing and it was already locked and cleaned and rubbish bags out so they must of finished long before that, I could still see loads of unused bread though but the woman shouted "closed" when I tried to enter.

Isnt this illegal? I was told when I worked in a shop you cant put the window shutters down till at least 5 minutes before closing and if customers are around you cant force them out but I went at 6.45 and they had already taken all the tables in and cleaned up. I could see they still had loads of unused bread so it wasnt a stock issue.

Do you think this warrants a complaint.

Hmm I dont know the exact thing but I heard before its down to the licensing of a store, they need to apply for a license to be open certain hours and if they dont honour it then it can be revoked, but I think thats more if they constantly do it.

BOGOF is only in Scotland, I know as when I came back to England from being there they didnt have it lol.

Yes...

...Sorry, whats the scenario??? *Reads original post*

I would probably mention it next time I was in there, something like "I wasnt going to bother coming in, I came a few nights ago but you'd shut early, sort of put me off a bit" as they were making the sandwich, but wouldnt actually complain.

Might aswell, they probably send you a voucher.

Something like this be more annoying if it was somewhere more important shutting. Imagine if you were wanting petrol and the petrol station had shut 15mins before you expected it so,a local chemist and so on.

Yeah like Next, god I'd be gutted.

Its only really annoying in the way if that I of known I would of gone in about 10-15 minutes before that but I decided not to as would of had to rush as was busy waiting in for a DHL parcel all day(that they claimed I was out!) then had to phone bank.

It does though however make me think twice about going back so they are losing a lot of potential custom, there is another one about 5-10 minutes walk from the house that I went to last week about same time and it was no problem(probably because the owner/manager works in that one)

That's a good one - 'Next' warrants a capital letter, but 'god' doesn't!!!! :w00t:

Each store is different but I think its more national in Scotland since the posters said "only in participating stores in Scotland" and I had to change trains a few times and they all had that offer and poster.

I know when I went on holiday to Northumberland last year there was one across the road from the station that had any footlong for £4 before 7pm and student discounts as well but mine doesnt do that in fact the ones in Chester say they will not honour the voucher books that are valid in Scotland and North of England(that even say Cheshire)

You're not having much luck with Subways are you, ryouga? Maybe you should try another fast food outlet? Or cook at home? Your kitchen is always open! ;-)

Lol I would cook my own and may just have no sauces, I have chicken breast etc in the freezer but all I have in the fridge is microwave macaroni(can be done in oven but takes ages) and no microwave lol. My kitchen and living room are all in one so just literally takes a second or so standing up from my chair to get to it.

Why would you buy microwave macaroni without a microwave?
#32
Really not worth complaining about. Maybe the woman behind the counter had permission to close early to attend something? Or, if it closes early all the time, just get there earlier. No reason to make a complaint, in my opinion
#33
Nah, let it go, its a nice hot evening, probably wanted a few beers with the lads.
#34
its worth an email or call to them

http://www.subway.co.uk/business/contact/contact_us.aspx

even though they are franchises - still got customer relations

mc donalds do it - so go ahead and hope you get some vouchers:thumbsup:

1 time I went to Woolworths it was about 5.15 and I wanted to play Lottery and went to entertainment desk and went to hand over playslip and she said she already shut down the machine.
#36
There's a song here!

"Cos you had a bad day..
You didn't get you're subway ...
You're taking one down.
You sing a sad song just to turn it around"

Just dont get subway from there again.

I went to a chip shop.. asked for cheesy chips.... guy said he didnt have any cheese.
The fridge was behind him.. with a block of cheese there in my view!! Never been back.

Wow, didnt even know you could do lottery in Woolies.

And I thought that if you had the machine you had to stay open up until the cut off point for buying tickets.

You shoulda said to him...

"WTF is that then *points*"

Gotta remember - sometimes it's not possible to stay open to the time your contracted too. Short-staffed is generally the reason we open/close early.

If it was a dreadful inconvience then by all means, complain. Personally, I'd get over it!
