Just read the story on BBC website about the Marine who threw himself on a grenade to save his colleagues lives.
He was awarded the George Cross (and rightly so). I'm sure his colleagues would have bought him a pint or so (after calling him an idiot for triggering it in the first place).
Makes me feel really humble when you read stories like this.
I posted this not to start a discussion about the rights and wrongs of Iraq/Afghanistan but to remind people of all the little acts of heroism that we never hear about.
They're not perfect, they may be poorly equipped but our forces are the best in the world.
