i recently sold a toothbrush brand new but box was damaged but insides perfect
buyer contacted me asking if it was used
replied of course not but if not satisfied send back and i would refund including postage
buyer refused and said they were going to put it in boiling water
i say this is very stange i believe he wanted refund but to keep item

MY QUESTION
if someone sold you a toothbrush you honestly thought was used would anyone in their right mind refuse a refund and say i will dip it in boiling water

Depends who had used it.
Now if it had been Sheryl Crow's brush it'd be like kissing this gob.

I'd use my husbands, or babys but noone elses :) Maybe even the dogs :)

Not a chance, not even if someone else in my family had used it!

I keep my toothbrush in my bedroom anyway, because its actually not good to keep them all together in one cup or something in the bathroom (plus keeping them in the bathroom means they supposedly get sprayed with tiny particles when the toilet is flushed, not matter how far away they are!)

what if the toothbrush is an old one the owner uses to brush in between tiles and hard-to-reach places in the bathroom ..........

Was it a electric toothbrush ?

Put it in boiling water? If i had any doubts, it'd be getting chucked in the bin.

so glad everyone agrees i thought maybe i was unreasonable not trusting this person
and questioning his motives for saying he believed item was used then refusing refund

Hey have you never heard of recycled toilet roll :p

Actually that reminds me of when I was a kid, my dad was really tight with the loo roll and you had to get your ration before you went, two squares for a number 1 and 4 squares for a number 2. The spare rolls were always hidden. My brother's friend when to the loo one day and had the runs and there wasn't enough toilet roll. My mum emptied the wash basket later that day and he had used a load of the dirty laundry to wipe his ass and then put it back!!! Needless to say he was banned from the house forever and he his a real poser these days, driving around in his porsche, splashing the cash. He hates it when I remind him about when he has the girls around him in a club

Thread closed. Members are entitled to query the condition of goods, although it's much better if they have proof of condition beforehand. The buyer should have checked first and asked for photographic evidence if in any doubt.

That said, your conduct was unacceptable to say the least. Whilst you are perfectly entitled to defend your position, indeed I'm happy that you did, you must not insult members by making derogatory and highly insulting statements. Further after sales conduct in the same manner should any future trade disputes arise, may see account limitations imposed.
