Have you connected the xbox to the wireless router using the network cable? (The 360 has no built in wireless capability)

if you want to connect to your wireless router you either need a wireless adapter for your 360 or just use an ethernet cable(the premium pack should have one inside the box) and physically connect it to your router heres a link to what the wireless adapter looks like - http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/719752/Official-XBox-360-Wireless-Adaptor/Product.html

have connected with the ethernet cable, but dont have one of those other thinbgs

the ethernet cable should work, have you selected the connect to xbox live option to let the console automatically configurate the settings yet also if your router is wep protected eg. bt ones always are you need to manually type in the wep key into the xbox

forget what i said about the wep key because you dont actually need it if its hard connected with a cable its only for wireless connections ie without any cables. as i said before try and put all settings to auto and let the console try and connect to your router automatically if that doesnt work, power off your modem and router for a minute plug them back on again and try then

yeah like above said...all you need to do really is

connect xbox 360 to modem with cable
switch on xbbox 360
go to connect to live and follow all instructions and set up
to play other gamers, you will need a GOLD live account which you pay for and put the code in

thats pretty much all you have to do....
#10
well truthfully so dont have to because you automatically get 1 month for free with all new accounts anyway
#11
i didnt get a month free....

i got silver free...no gold....

i heard u get a month free....dunno why i didnt tho...
#12
try creating a new gamertag and see if you get a month free

if your pc is working fine with the router than your xbox should be okay as well

when u use the cable for direct connection you do not need to change anything in your modem settings, the internet should be there....make sure the cables are in correctly and firmly, unplug the power of ur modem for 1 minute then plug it back in, boot up your xbox and go to connect to live.....follow the screen etc...if it does not connect it will come up with an option to test connection, do that and let us know what it says the problem is

i've only gone and done it, followed all your step by step guides, and it went on with dns error, so i restored to factory settings as i am sure he mucked about with it. and working great now and very impressed with the family settings, at least i can control who he talks to.

so thank you everyone for all your help!!

all given rep too!!
