I have just bought my son an xbox 360 for xmas, however I am wondering if I need to purchase a adaptor to make it wireless, we do have a router and a linksys wireless adaptor that he uses with his xbox. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

how old is your son, because let me tell you XBOX live is serious business.

imo, if you can, just hard wire direct from the router to the 360.. it'll be much faster

I am assuming that the linksys is a wireless bridge? If so, then this will work just the same with the XBOX 360 and you use its ethernet port just like you do on his XBOX. You only need the xbox360 wireless adapter if you want to get rid of the linksys wireless bridge - personally I would try it and if its not working well then change it otherwise it should be fine. I used mine for months before it broke so I ended up buying a wireless adapter then.

Sorry to be a little thick , but wireless bridge???. My son uses his wireless adaptor upstairs which is put into his computer and the router is downstairs... does that make sense. However I was wondering about the confirguartion regarding this, I want to make sure it works on xmas day.
Thanks for the information, it is really appreicated.

Understand completely, just dont want you spending money if you dont have to:)

I thought from your post that your son currently plugs his original XBOX console into a linksys wireless box which then links to your wireless router downstairs(?). I assume also that the XBOX is connected into the linksys box using an ethernet cable (the plugs look a bit like a phone plug). If this is the case, then the XBOX360 will work in exactly the same way. Just unplug the XBOX and plug in the XBOX360.
We can check if you have a product code for the linksys box.

If you want him to use the XBOX and the XBOX360 at the same time, then you will need the XBOX360 wireless adapter. :)

The linksys plugs into the usb port on my sons computer.. would this not be able to be plugged into the xbox 360 ?

Unfortunately not....its one area MS really does have a monopoly on. The simplest answer is as Sheep87 says, a XBOX360 wireless adapter.

You could look at a wireless bridge which is cheaper but can cause more hassles if your not technically minded (or prefer time spent playing online instead like me!).. Unfortunately, there dont seem any deals at the moment for the adapter, but its worth waiting and checking around.

Alternatively, see if Game or somewhere like that will do you a deal. I always ask for money off or a deal and never accept prices straight off...

Good luck and keep searching!

Got a way of saving a few pounds on one - think this has been posted elsewhere on the site.

It involves GAME

Add the Wireless adapter to your basket

http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Accessory/~r327033/Xbox-360-Wireless-Adapter/default.aspx?s=360+wireless&added=327033

Then add some cheap wrapping to take it over £60

http://www.game.co.uk/CoolStuff/Miscellaneous/~r333114/Silver-Fisheye-DVD-Wrap/default.aspx?s=dvd+wrap&added=333114

and you get a £15 discount making it delivered for a little over £45 quid and something to wrap it in!

Just found this code which takes another £3 off!

Use the voucher code NW11GMEHW to save £3 when spending £30 at Game.
