EDIT: Ok just got back from Game (Again) and got the GOW Bundle. Yipee. I changed my mind about Jasper and thought I would just go with the flow.
Well anyway I have just logged on to my Live account on my computer and hey it's still there. gamerscore and everything. The wierd thing is that I still have 2 friends!!!
Does anyone know who they are:

If one of you fellow HUKD members is one of these I thank you for still being my friend. Man it's been like 1 1/2 years since I last logged on, you guy's are faithful.

Hello to you all, Just need a little advice regarding my Arcade purchase today.

First of all after seeing reports that the new Jasper models are out I was overjoyed as my patience had been rewarded. So I researched on the internet and found the new Jasper models came with a lot number of 0843X (or above) and the manufacturing date was after 23rd October. These new models also come with a 150w power brick.

So I went to Game this morning and was thinking of this:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/285332/xbox-360-60gb-premium-pack-with-gea/showthread.php?t=285332&page=3
But when asked to see the lot number it had 0842. So I guessed it did not have the jasper in it. I asked if they could look at the other consoles they had to see if they could find one with 0843X, and they came back saying the only one's with it on was the arcade. So fair enough, thinking this WAS a Jasper model I got the bundle with Mirror's Edge.
However getting home I noticed the manufacture date was the 22nd October. Hmmmm. So I carefully opened the box to find the power brick and to my dissapointment it had 175w on it meaning I had an old model and NOT the Jasper. :(

So what I am asking is whether or not I should take it back and either exchange it for the GOW bundle as I am going to have an old model anyway (and I only bought the arcade thinking it was the Jasper) or will I just have to face I made a mistake and hope nothing goes wrong?

Oh, by the way just so you know I have had 360's in the past and in the space of 5 months I went through 5 consoles (RROD, Disc not reading etc...) so I waited especially for the Jasper to come out so I didn't have this problem again.

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.

I bought an ARCADE from GAME three months ago and after a month the DVD drive stopped working, I asked them to replace it or to give me my money back and they just replaced the XBOX 360, they basically took a new ARCADE box took the XBOX out of that box and swapped it with my XBOX. So I did not get new controllers or anything just a new XBOX unit.

I doubt they will accept the XBOX 360 back from you if you have not got the GAME sticker sealed. I remember I tried to open carefully but that GAME seal breaks quite easily.

I suppose no harm in trying to change it. I think you might end up being stuck with that version.

But I would not worry too much about Jasper and so you can Install the games on the HDD now so the XBOX should last a bit longer.

Good luck, let us know what you do in the end

I'd just take it back and explain to them and perhaps wait until they get some Jaspers in.. it depends if you want an xbox now or if you can wait a couple more weeks.

Mine didn't have a Game seal on it, just one of those clear circles.
I have replaced it and it doesn't look like it has been opened.

I have waited over 2 years so prob a few more weeks won't do no harm, but the offer on the GOW bundle might not last as they said their offers were changing 2moro.

Oh and if I keep this one and then add on the 60gb drive etc... it's going to cost way more than if I just got the 60gb GOW bundle.

Unless the store manager is helpful I doubt you'd get yours replaced, if the Jaspers are even in the shops yet.

The non-Jaspers do work and work fine, so just get enjoying your 360 Arcade and don't worry :D

EDIT - just read your post properly and seen you've had a few issues in the past... oops! Maybe there's something you're doing that is killing these machines? Some people seem to play all day every day and never have a problem, others like yourself seem to go through machines like there's no tomorrow!

As with all my games I only play for about 1-2 hours tops at a time. I kept my 360('s) well ventilated. The only exception was when I went for the Dead Rising achievement (Zombie Genocider (20) Defeat 53,594 zombies). I think I am cursed or something, no wonder I am so paranoid, I mean I look after all of my things and even those that are years old still look brand new.
Take my PS3 Launch console, it looks like it just come out of the box!

Oh and I do want a hard drive, and like I said I initially wanted the GOW to save a few £'s instead of buying the arcade and the 60gb starter pack.

Some put it down to resource-intensive titles that can push the console too much, but I'm still not convinced. With your previous machines, have you ever returned them under the warranty?

Obviously your PS3 looks so immaculate is because it's never been used... :whistling:

Are you sure you want a Jasper? or are you just a bit annoyed that a cheaper deal came out?

When I bought mine I had a very good deal but guess what a week later a better deal came out, a month later an even better as so on.

Like Jof said just enjoy the XBOX 360, at least you know you have one year warranty and with your luck well it will break in the next year and who knows you might get the Jasper then.

By the way when I got mine the first XBOX it had Date August 2008 and it stopped working, the new one that they gave me had July or June 2008 but at least the new one does work.

Well the cheaper offer was there and I could have gotten it but as I believed the Jasper was only in the arcade unit then I got that one instead.
If I knew when I bought the arcade that I would not be getting the Jasper then I would have got the GOW bundle.

To tell the truth ever since getting a refund on my 360's (Still under warrenty at the time but HMV were happy to refund), and then buying a PS3 I was quite dissapointed. I don't know what it is about Xbox Live but once you experience it nothing can compare. And so I HAVE played on my PS3 but not as much as it really can't compare to the Xbox.

And I would prefer the Jasper if only to give me some peace of mind that I would not have to go through as many Xbox's again.

This all happened last time there was a mobo change with the Falcon chipset and still people have issues. The Elite was thought to be immune of the RROD but I know of two people that recently saw theirs light up.

Personally, I probably would try and seek out a Jasper as you're doing but I wouldn't put any money on it being the answer to the problem.

Well what to do. I mean I've bought it now:x. Damn.
Saying that if I do cut my losses and keep it, does anyone know where to get an Xbox 360 60GB Live Starter Kit for cheap. Play have one for £54.99, just wondered if anywhere else was cheaper?

Thanks for all your advice, still might ask to swap for the other bundle (no harm in asking right?)

Launch console repaired once, bad luck.

:-D:-DRight. Ok just got off the phone to Game. If I am going to stuck with the old model anyway, They said that it's no problem to exchange the console for the 60gb.:-D:-D

Thanks to all.
