Ok Ok... Bolt statement...
Personally, i’ve never understand the “Console war” argument, each one has there good bits and bad bits.. I personally prefer the Xbox 360.. Some of my friends prefer the PS3.. Each to their own.
Forgetting the console war crap when it comes to preferrence. I find it incredible that Sony has managed to let go of the iron grip they had. Can’t help but think that the Nintendo Wii has had something to do with this. Alsl find it quite interesting follow the sales figures every so often.
Realistically, we’ve got 4 years left of this generation (At most).. Some guys will say 5 years and beyond, but that’s just Microsoft talking up longevity in order to sell more Kinect.. Every console cycle has been roughly around 6 years.. Meaning this cycle (based on 4 more years), will be around 8-9 years.
Xbox 360 is roughly 5.7 million units ahead of the Playstation 3.. It is also still outselling the PS3 consistently again (Since June-ish)..
Was a few estimates that by January 2011 – the PS3 would have a larger install base than the Xbox 360.. Obviously, not going to happen.
Generally the average gap between the two at each stage has been between 40,000-80,000 units per week. Trading blows.
In order for the PS3 install base to match Xbox 360s, it would need to outsell the Xbox 360 by 60,000 units every week for 2 years. Again, very unlikely that would happen.
Xbox 360 was around 5.3 units ahead of the PS3 on it’s launch.. So the Xbox 360 has extended it's lead over the PS3 by 0.4 million units in the 4 years the PS3 has been around.
All these figures have been based on vgchartz figures (Who also regularlly adjust when NPD release data)
