xbox 360 - borderlands, fable II or oblivion

I'm stuck at work today and it's pretty dead - looking at getting a new game for the 360 anyone think much of these 3 - borderlands, fable II or oblivion?

I'm playing MW2 online a lot at the mo so not that bothered about multiplayer - looking for something I can kill some time on when I'm not in the mood to mix with the nutters on live :)

cheers,
worto.

out of them 3 i would say fable 2

Definetely Oblivion, has the most content and has gotten the best reviews of the three games.

if u like fable 2 and oblivion then u might want to take a look at dragon age too. fable is a little too short for my liking but still a fab game u should still play
#4
oblivion is a bit old now but still an ace game, i'd say borderlands

lol - thats one vote for each and a new game chucked in! I guessed oblivion was a bit old as it's only £12, fable II is only £13 too.

argh I dunno - been looking at gameplay footage on youtube and none of them jump out but I don't tend to find gameplay footage helps when choosing an RPG as it's not the graphics that make them addictive.

Never played borderlands but I can comment on the other two.

Fable 2 is a great laugh but not as 'sandbox' as it should have been, you play through the storyline while customizing your character to your unique tastes and making choices (killing innocents or helping) that change peoples reactions to you. It has a fair bit of humour and is a well worth a play through.

Oblivion is massive, you basically get dropped down in the middle of a sword and sorcery fantasy world and can do most anything you please. From the minute you escape at the start you can decide to just play the main quest or just go off robbing peoples houses, assassinating for cash, becoming a sorcerer or just collecting herbs to sell to town shops (and so on and so on and...). Every second person seems to either have a quest for you or are part of another quest.

Another game you may consider is Fallout 3. Imagine Oblivion but if it was to take place in a mad max post apocalyptic world (with guns).

fallout 3 is probably better than all of the above and you can get it cheap now. you've also got all the dlc that comes with it once you've finished the main game (or like me just want to play with some aliens)

borderlands is ace :)

not played the others tho

Fable 2: not as free raoaming as originally described, good fun game and if you can get the GOTY Ed that will add so much extra content

Oblivion: Open ended massive RPG, the main game was too quick to complete imo but again the DLC makes up if you can get the GOTY Ed

Borderlands: Not played sorry

As for DA Origins, the control system doesn't seem to flow for me and the pause and queue turn system is taking me a while to get used to..

so my opinion, in summary:

FABLE 2 for some light hearted gameplay, the NPC's are very funny at times

Oblivion if you want something a little "more"

I couldn't really get into Fallout 3 as I found the landscape just too depressing being vast swathes off grey or brown blasted rock. I should probably go back and give it another shot.

oblivion all the way, best game i ever played i love it, i think ive spent over 200 hours playing it lol

I've played all three, I would go for Borderlands or Oblivion. Played Fable 2 to completion but would never really recommend it, more 'kiddie' than the other 2. Borderlands is brilliant co-op.

I would say Fable 2 as you can pick up and play really at any time.

Oblivion is great but you really need to be in the mood to play it and dedicate time to it.

Borderlands is fantastic, playing it at the moment, but it's a lot more fun if you play multiplayer (not killing each other, but working together).

If you're flying solo and want something easy to get into and carry on with, I'd say Fable.

*Edit* Just buy all 3 :) You will eventually anyway ;) Get the GOTY versions and be set for life (Borderlands has 2 new DLCs that have just come out, so you'll be waiting longer for the full whack, so complete the other 2 while you wait)

Thanks guys - gonna go for fable today (and blood bowl as thats cheap now too) shortly followed by oblivion I think - I'll leave borderlands for another time I think.
