XBOX 360 deals with games are they worth the hassle?

Just thought to open this thread to find out what people think about the XBOX 360 deals with games.

Let's say that you want a new chart game and let's assume that you are a big fan of that game and would like the game within the week is released.
They normally go for anything between £30-40 but they also do bundle deals with the games.

If instead of giving £30 or £40 you buy a XBOX 360 deal with the game how much can you really get back? and is it worth the hassle (or fun) of selling all the stuff?

Let's look at the how much you could get from each type of XBOX360 (prices are just estimates, please correct me if I am way off)

Obviously you are selling unboxed new items so you might get a decent price or at least maybe a bit better than a second hand one.

ARCADE:

- Wireless controller (£15-£20)
- Power Supply (£ ??)
- AV cable (£ ??)
- Manuals (£ ??)
- XBOX 360 (£50 -70) Let's assume you keep your old XBOX and sell the new one
- 256 MB memory card (£5)
- 5 Arcade Games CDs (£2 ??)
- 1 game £25
- 1 game £25 (or nothing if you keep it)

Price for the deal: £129
Possible return keeping 1 game: £122
Price paid for your new game: £7
Saving (assuming your chart game was £40): £33

PRO 60GB:
- Wireless controller (£15-£20)
- Power Supply (£ ??)
- AV cable (£ ??)
- Manuals (£ ??)
- 60GB HDD (£30 - £40)
- Headset (£ 5 )
- Component Cable (not sure if it comes with this model) (£5 - £10)
- XBOX 360 (£50 -70) Let's assume you keep your old XBOX and sell the new one
- 1 game £25
- 1 game £25 (or nothing if you keep it)

Price for the deal: £169
Possible return keeping 1 game: £170
Price paid for your new game: -£1
Saving (assuming your chart game was £40): £41

ELITE:
- Wireless controller (£15-£20)
- Power Supply (£ ??)
- AV cable (£ ??)
- Manuals (£ ??)
- Headset (£ 5 )
- 120 GB Black HDD (£50 - £60)
- Component Cable (£5 - £10)
- XBOX HDMI cable (£10-£15)
- XBOX 360 Black (£70-£80 ??)
- 1 game £25
- 1 game £25 (or nothing if you keep it)

Price for the deal: £229
Possible return keeping 1 game: £215
Price paid for your new game: £14
Saving (assuming your chart game was £40): £26

I am assuming that you get two games with each deal so you keep your desired game and sell the rest of the stuff. Anything extra with the deal would make it even better

Please feel free to add any item that I missed or adjust any price. Any comments are welcome

At what point would you break even, make a profit or would you lose in the end.

I can see Gear of War2, Fallout 3, Need for Speed: Undercover and more deals in the near future so I would like to be prepared and the Christmas deals might come very handy.

Not worth the hassle.........especially at the mo when everyone is on the lookout for a deal and has less disposable income.

Was worth the hassle for me. My xbox broke down and I wanted to buy a new one so the arcade version was ideal. At the time I bought the arcade version alone for £159.99 from Currys.

Broken xbox sold for £60 on fleabay.
XBLA Game disc from arcade version sold for £10
Controller from Arcade package sold for £20
Memory Card from arcade sold for £15
Sold Component Cables from old and new (as I now used the HDMI) both for £12.

Total Received £117.00
New Package £159.99

Net to replace broken xbox360 with brand new HDMI unit £43.00.

I'd say it was worth it for me.

But the OP isn't talking about getting a new xbox and selling off the games - he is talking about buying a bundle every time he wants a new game and selling everything but the game. Just to save a tenner off the game (because I think your prices are optimistic when postage/selling fees are deducted).
