The lovely helpful chap at Xbox Support has arranged for it to be picked up and fixed free of charge (and I should blummin well think so too what with it being less than a year old!) - He said 3-5 dyas for a pick up by UPS and then 2-3 weeks for repaid. From people's experience on here are these timescales likely to be accurate or was he being pessimistic? Don't know if I can manage 4 weeks without HD-DVD and mindless games.

Share my pain my friends.

I feel your pain Evil Monkey.

I've just had exactly the same thing happen to my 20gb 'box, which was only 8 months old.

Fortunately Mrs Lightyear had the sense to purchase it as a Christmas gift via Amazon and they've agreed to refund the full cost as they don't have any stock left for an exchange! £230 refunded, new 60gb xbox purchased from PC World on the way home from work for only £180!!

Might be worth you making the same enquiries of your retailer if your box is less than a year old.

Unfortunately (or fortunately at the time I got it!) it was a freebie from Dialaphone that I got when taking out my mobile contract so I don't expect any joy there. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Would have to happen when I've got a new game on the way wouldn't it. Curse you Bill Gates!:x

Update - UPS eventually picked this up and it appears to have arrived at their Frankfurt depot OK. Looking at tracking info it seems it is now being returned to me as they were unable to deliver it to Xbox - they attempted delivery at 3.29am today. WTF is going to be available to sign for a package at 3.29am on a Saturday??!
AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!
