Seams as though xbox live is down at the moment I thought I might aswel, have a solo play on Lost Planet (cut scenes on this game are soooo long, can skip them though). Completed mission one at a casual pace of 25mins :giggle: (sure it could probs be done in about 5-10 mins).

Started Playing Mission two, killed about 10 Akrids and got to a place where there is an "S" coin on a balcony, then my xbox decides to tell me that it can't read the disc, remove the disc and clean it.

However not feeling my best anyway, decided to turn the 360 off and come on HUKD's...

If you wan to skip the above, fair enough. This part is the main point of my post

Anybody else had this error, (know some have on here, but can't remember who).

The game is brand new, no fingerprint marks on it, no scratches or any other marks that I can see.

from experience does this mine my 360 is going to the big silicon valley in the sky for a second time?

basically just after your views on this.

I'm hoping it was a eone off glitch on a new game, and preying its not dying on me again

My friend bought a brand new 360 and it lasted an hour's play before it decided it no longer wanted to be a 360. Effectively it thought it was a standard DVD player.

If it doesnt work on any other games i'd give xbox a call and get them to fix it.

Hmmmm. A 360 with a personality problem. Interesting.

mine got this error and had to send it back to Microsoft - was under warranty thankfully.
After reading a few sites, it appears that it's caused by dust getting onto the lens and sometime blowing into the xbox 360 sorts it.

April Fool btw.

Seriously though, this is what the forums said. Never worked for me though.

I've had this a couple of times but ejecting and re-inserting disc clears it....

I had the same problem with my xbox, it stopped reading discs all together. I took it back to the shop and exchanged it for a new one. If you dont wanna do that call the amercian speaking uk xbox customer services on the free phone number at the back of the warranty booklet.

Damm xboxes, I hope my new one dont go down the same route, cos abolosuly nothing happened to my first 360 for it to f up.

we're on our 7th xbox 360 because of the 3 red lights problem and so far, this console has only experienced the disc read error on a couple dozen occasions but most of the time, it works if you just turn off the console and put it back on.

Apparantly this will be a constant problem and apparantly it happens more on certain games such as Gears of War (even though i can't understand how this is possible) but Gears of War is the main culprit.

If the problem becomes unbearable, then take it back to your store or alert Microsoft.

:? Your doing something wrong man. Let your 360 breathe !!!

Put it on a plank of wood so it absorbs heat, make sure its well ventilated. DO the same with the power unit. If its on a carpet that could be the cause.

Yeah, we heard about the ventilation problems from the first instance and the microsoft customercare team told us we were doing everything possible to make sure it was well ventilated and they told us we're extremely unlucky that we keep receiving "the 2% problematic consoles" but it's a well known fact that it's much higher than this.

3 or 4 of the consoles actually appeared with 3 red lights within a few hours of play time or immediately.

I brought a 360 a couple of weeks ago, i had to take it back after 6 days due to this problem, The new one seems to be OK so far. Fingers Crossed
