Think it might be a problem with the settings on your TV rather than on the console?

Obviously it's hard to say as all TV's are different, but my old one (Sony) has a smart mode where it selects the screen size for you. It might be the same on yours. If so, you're best to just select widescreen on your TV as well as on the console.

It's your tele mate - my old one used to do that. The only way around it is to switch it back to widescreen if it goes into normal mode via the remote (my old one was Sony too..........)

I am pretty certain it has something to do with autoswitching, if the TV or xbox doesn't have a mode where you can change it you can't do anything about it.

My freeview box does it with my Dell TV.

The Xbox 360 has to be set up, no autoswitching that I'm aware of. So the problem has got to be with the TV.

My old Sony was a wide screen but you could still change the display size. What make and model is the TV you're using the 360 on?
