Ok, so i never thought i would, but i've just ordered a 360 from Boots! Mainly because i just found out that the new Colin McRae is out next month!!

Just need some tips from the peeps that already have one:

Does the 360 output in HD straight out of the box with the leads supplied, or do I need to purchase another lead, if so, what's best?

Do I need an addtional cooler?

Don't intend of chipping or flashing, but any other tips anyone can offer?

many thanks

;-)

ok, I think i've answered the first question myself - the component cable supplied should output in HD..

now what about an additional cooler?....

i bought a nyko cooler and when its plugged in it sounds like a jumbo jet taking off, so needless to say i don't use it, but aslong as you have plenty of ventulation (spelt that wrong but hey) around the console and preferably around the power brick you should be ok

Another tip is to keep your receipt somewhere safe :giggle:

Did you buy the Core from Boots or the Premium?
Only the Premium has the component cable I think.

I'd stay away from intercoolers, more trouble than they're worth. Just keep it in a well ventilated area.

Its in the title mate! ;-) :giggle:

Also as you said the coolers are more hassle than what there worth, Quite a few reports suggest they have caused some of the 3 rings of death, Because they force the xbox 360 standard fans to work harder.

Nice one guys - thanks very much - was nearly going to buy the coolerking from Play.com, but will hold back now....

keep those tips coming... cheers!

I would recommend that you get yourself the play and charge kit for the wireless controller, sure i saw it somewhere on here for under £10, otherwise you'll go through quite a few batteries

I found it short lived, this might be because A) i'm not that good at it (struggle on hard mode) or B) that I like my online shooters too much at the moment. especially lost planet. good online but people tend to play the same maps over and over again

I play guitar so i found it quite easy so that could be why i'm biased as well.

I can strum a few chords and play a little, but at the moment my tanglewood is sat gathering dust (broke my finger *sob). Anyway we can argue what games are good and what aren't but at the end of the day its a matter of preference.

Also to the OP if you want the play and charge kit for under £10 let me know because i have a game voucher from a while back (live vision misprice) that i doubt i will use

I snapped the tendon in my left pinky finger and its never healed back as it should of done, No strength in it whatsoever!, So as much as i try to play guitar it is hard for some chords!

Dont buy a cooler too noisey. Mine is noisey without a cooler (my PS2 was much much quieter)

If you're a 8 hour a day gamer keep your receipt handy :-D

My 360 no. 3 is doing alrite, occassionaly get a disc read error after completing a mission on Lost Planet (happened 3 times but just with that game)

good thing about mine though was that my warranty was nearing the end and it went to the big gamer heaven in the sky, so i took it back to the store git a replacement and another years warranty :-D

When you sign up to xbox live select the silver package as this will get you a months free so that you can see what games are like online to see if you want to pay £40ish for a years subscription. In my opinion it is well worth it when you have friends to play with.
#20
Is there an initial charge when you sign up to Live, what's the difference between the silver and gold package?

No Silver level is free but with gold you get a lot more extras. See here: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/xbox360/

You can pay for xbox live gold in different ways, either every month, every 3 months or every year. It basicly enables you to play online and get game demos etc earlier than people on the silver membership.
