maybe the core will be soon they have gotta shift them somehow:)
#3
were still getting ripped off anyway on bbc it says £237.49 which is the euro exc rate, but were paying 249.99 (ok 229.99 at play) but 249.99 elsewhere
#4
where does the £237.49 come from?

paying an extra £12 is nothing really, specially as that is going to the taxman. It's the same with any electrical product.

£249.99 is a cracking price for a RRP Premium, I expect you'll able to pick up premium bundles for under £200 then!

And now you can pick up a XBOX360 system for the same price as a Nintendo Wii. These things will sell like hot cakes over the xmas period!

Remind me if it does happen, then I can have a laugh as they go for £400:giggle:

Another **** BBC "news" report

Anyway, we are getting a better deal than Europe IMO

The Core and Elite both work out cheaper (Over £10 and £5 respectively) and the Premium is slightly more expensive. But when you factor in the TAX we pay on all products in this country, we are getting a good deal for once compared the rest of Europe.
#12
So based on this and those of us who ordered from Comet with the £30 discount - do we get the £30 discount still or should we order elsewhere now at a better rate?
#13
Once you place an order you have agreed to pay that price. Amazon and a few other places will offer you the difference, but someone like Comet I highly doubt.

Try contacting them! Has your order been dispatched?

If they will not offer you the difference, buy another XBOX wherever it may now be cheapest and return one using the Comet receipt for a refund.

Just spoke to currys and i've cancelled my order, they wont lower my original buy price - anyone got any better deals now sites are showing the new price.......
#15
Play.com are already doing the premium for £229.99 and a Premium with Forza 2 for £249.99

I hope friday comes round soon.

Wait a day or two for all the retailers to update the new bundles etc. But play have a really good price for the Premium right now!

The NEW Core and Premium prices are in effect FROM TODAY

The Elite is obviously released Friday, so the price for that is active then.

I would imagine there are going to be plenty of deals going round for both the core and the premium in the coming months. Microsoft are releasing all versions of the 360 with HDMI included so old stock as it will be come Friday will be reduced to get rid of ASAP, then they'll ship the newer consoles, Core, Premium and Elite with the HDMI included.

From what I heard a while back, the Core will NOT have HDMI. An incentive (marketing ploy by MS) for you to buy the premium:thumbsup:

Hmmm. So if I want the HDMI port am I best to wait till the first week of September for the newer models to be released? Or what? Lost. :S

I haven't heard anything like that, and I can't see it happening because manufacturing two 360 motherboards in parallel would be a pain for MS.

Could well be the case, suppose a HDMI for a core will have no real benefit, not going to be downloading from Live Marketplace without a HDD although producing separate versions of the motherboard and all other components that go with the addition of HDMI (modifying internal layout, software, hardware, casing etc) for a core and a Premium makes it sound a bit costly for them to produce a non-hdmi and hdmi version of the console at the same time

Beat me too it, unless of course there fading the core out???
#25
Do you think the Elite is worth the extra (need it in black and HDMI to match SAM TV) over the premium.

This will be my first games console so I have plenty of silly questions:)
Like as good as PS3?.......................

If you want HDMI then yes, although when the newer version will be stocked may well depend on when the older stocks are sold out. I believe the newer versions of the 360 premium have HDMI listed as contents on the box so cheeck that out before buying, or simply buy an Elite, they've all got HDMI as of release on Friday

If you will use the extra 100Gb on the HDD then yes, if no then my own personal opinion is no, could easily buy a black faceplate to match ur Sammy setup :giggle:

k Cheers. Don't see the point in paying the extra for a larger hard-drive, black case and black controllers tbh. Don't think I need the HDMI port, just would prefer knowing its the later model without the "ring of death" problem. :)

Neither do i although if i had the money i would buy it as i too have a Sammy set up and want everything to match the sexy black :) HDMI port would be nice if you can wait a few weeks to get it, although component does the job just as good. ROD is covered by extended warranty now anyway so don't let that put you off!

After h4x3r's arguement with somebody over the PS3 yesterday, I came to the conclusion I'm getting a 360, so it won't put me off. Plus the 3 year warrently makes me smile since its what the PS3 doesn't offer. I have no pref if its black or white (whatever colour is it, grey?), it'll just get slotted in and played a lot :)

You will need the larger hard drive once the Video Marketplace launches in the UK later in the year (if you use it obviously). You can download/rent Hi-Def movies etc. and you will need the storage for these. The standard 20gb only has about 13gb free out of the box and this gets used up really quickly.

Good on you!I did exactly the same, just went out and got one, best thing i ever did, great range of games and amazing graphics. What sells it to me is Xbox Live, adds a whole new dimension to gaming. Well it did, till some low life broke in to my house and stole my beloved 360 :x

Anyway, enjoy it when you get it, and to make you even happier i've never had a problem with my 360, no ROD or any failures of any kind, just pure enjoyment! And its an off white colour

I know if I added an external hard-drive it wouldn't work with the xbox 360 stuff, but I'm sure theres a way round that.

The elite is a step in the right direction, but as far as ROD is concerned, none of the xboxes (including the elite) are shipping with the new falcon chipset just yet so there will still be overheating issues until they mass market the new internals like the DVD drive with extra cooling.

Hm. Do they have any fan devices which can be stuck on the back of it like the PS3 since where my TV is gets like a sauna. I have no central heating in my room because my PC keeps it warm :-D

But they have changed the motherboard setup to combat the overheating problem, and they have added and amended the heatsink so the issue of overheating shouldn't be as big an issue anymore. And if it does decide to die, send it off and get a nice replacement with extra warranty

The falcon chipset has nowt to do with ROD

Please stop confusing people!!

All XBOXs have the new extra heatsink fitted as standard, which cures the overheating issue some poeple experienced. As well as a 3 year warrenty

If you can, wait until next month. They'll be better bundles and offers about, the speculation over the new chipset will be sorted out and it'll be clearer what is the right thing to buy.
