Hey i got my 360 on 7th july this yeat. Anyway today ive switched it on and it wouldnt connect to xbox live then eventually it did but didnt show my gamer score, icon, rep, etc, was blank. then i played a game and when i finished and opened the drive. the screen went black, xbox was still on tho. just wondered if this is one of the problems and will keep happening? or if its just one of those things that happen now and again..

cheers.....also might help ppl if we keep this going with xbox problems, so new/old uders can see what problems to expect and what ones are more serious. as we all know the 3 red light thing...

on the topic of 360 issues, does any one ever get a blank/black screen during game play for a few second then it comes back, like it has lost its signal or somthing?
#9

I did...

Seemed to lose all graphics, and sometimes the images would be really fuzzy. Very strange, even did it on composite on someone elses TV.

Sent it back to Microsoft, got a refurb for replacement.

On Friday I got the three red lights. Then on Monday I got a replacement from where I'd bought it (PC World).

Plugged it in, all was going fine. Crashed about 5 minutes into a game. Thought nothing of it. Afterwards the console wasn't even getting to the dashboard without crashing.

Took another trip to PC World. Where the girl plugged my console into the display one and said to another guy that it was in fact getting the red lights. I didn't really want to tell her that that wasn't actually the problem, and that there were 4 red lights meaning that the AV cable wasn't attached properly. Anyway, she got me a new console out the back and now I'm sorted again.

Other than this weekend I've never had any problems with the Xbox. Oh except the stupid crash that always happens to me. If Xbox live doesn't connect properly it brings up a window that says 'Test settings' or 'Cancel'. No matter what I press it always freezes >_<

I'm personally modifying mine this week.

The problem with it it that the air shroud over the GPU doesn't extend far enough, so only 5% of the Heatsink gets airflow, and the Thermal compound is applied to the heatsink and not the GPU so it doesn't make an even contact.

i think there is a pattern emerging with the usage of your monitor and vga cable. i to use my monitor and my screen went black completly when i opened my drive today...
