hi,

i connect my xbox 360 to my HD TV via the component cables that came with the xbox. personally i think the picture is great, upon reading comments regarding gold plated HDMI cables etc and the benefits of connecting via a good quality cable im considering connecting my xbox via gold plated HDMI. will i notice a difference in terms of picture quality?

where is the HDMI connector on the 360?

You have to have a elite to use HDMI

You wont notice much of a better picture unless your TV supports 1080p
or your tv is huge

No HDMI for you then matey !!!

Component only with the Premium...

Is there anyway to "upgrade" the component connection for increased picture (I have a 50" tele)
#4
Premiums are apprently in being made with a HDMI socket included.

i dont think you can upgrade the connection on a component, unless your using a unoffical cable ( which apprentloy giv out a poorer signal then the offical cables).I could suggest changing the Pictures setting on the Xbox, might help

It's a great pic as it is, but just thought you might be able to get it even better lol

Cheers

I think VGA gives out a sharper picture, But the colours wash out a bit.

The new premiums are called "pro", They've got the HDMI connectors...
#7
There will be something along soon that plugs in the back of the "old" xboxes that let you use HDMI I bet !!
#8
I think I saw a comparison between the component cable and the HDMI cable on 1up but there wasn't much of a difference if I remember correctly

upgraded to elite, so HDMI it is for me :-D

much tidier cable and a slight increase in picture quality.

cant grumble at that,

What costs / deal did you incur/get?

Same position myself, but begrudging an upgrade as i've only had the Premium for 3 months or so!

299 from woolies with a free copy of halo 3.

15 quid quidco brought it to 285 and i sold my premium for 200.

bump, just discovered that 720p gives a better picture than 1080i??

should i connect my elite to my 26" samsung L87 via HDMI at 720p or 1080i??
#14
Probably 720p as it's a better signal for fast moving images.
