Hi All

I have been playing CoDMW2 from my 120gb HDD no problem at all. Now all of a sudden, I have started getting an "Unreadable Disc" error, but as I said I have been playing it from my HDD

Anybody seen this error before or have any ideas on why it is happening, or how to fix it?

I know this might be a stupid response, but you haven't said you've kept the disc in as well, so here goes.

Even when playing the game from the HDD you still need to keep the disc in the drive for verification etc.

yep, if you eject this disc it returns to the dash, just like if you are playing from a disc

But i haven't had this happen with any other game, ever, and only the last day or so on CoD, i completed the first 14 or so missions like this, I will try Brutal Legend or Forza 3 now and see what happens

lol great help that was.

Try giving your disk a clean. If that doesnt work, try a different game to rule out drive problems.

If it persists, try deleting it from your HDD then installing it back

I have previously uninstalled and re-installed to no avail, I have also cleared the HDD's cache with no luck

Forza 3 seems to be running ok from the HDD as we speak

Try just running the disk without the HDD in the xbox (press little circle on the top of the xbox and pull up). If it doesn't work it's the disk opposed to the hardrive playing up. If other games are working this seems the most likely thing to be causing you problems

drives on it's way out, mine has been doing this for months. sending mine to ms this week, was waiting for the mw2 console to arrive first. i suggest you send it off before the xmas rush.

If this is the case, back-up !! or you will lose all your saves

Well all saves are backed up on a memory unit, and I have made a full HDD backup on my PC's HDD, I just find it strange that it only seems to be CoDMW2 with the problem, Forza and Brutal Legend are both running fine

I have read of some others having this fault, but using backups of the game, which doesn't affect me

I may have gotten a duff disc as nothing else seems to be having any problems, but again haven't heard anything about this, I will have to google a little bit harder lol

Id assume he meant disc drive not hdd.

it'll last for a few months, you'll probably get the "please put this disc in an xbox360 console" message soon and then it'll just stop working. i'm guessing his saves are on his hdd so he wont lose anything as you don't send drives off with the console.

ok guys, I have looked on the IW forums and there are LOADS of similar problems, tons of threads detailing the same, or very similar issues with CoD, its looking like it may need patching or there was a bad batch of discs, but IW haven't said anything yet

I will have to keep an eye out on both CoD updates and forums, as well as my Xbox, DVD-ROM and HDD

Thanks for all your help guys!

Sorry not got a fix for you, but how did you back up your whole hard drive to your PC and how have you got backups of all your saves on a memory unit, i tired copying my forza 3 save to a MS memory card and it said this item cant be copyied :(

Not all games can be copied to a memory unit, Forza just happens to be one that can't

As for a system backup, I used this from DealExtreme

http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.27798

There is a free bit of software you have to download to use with it, it is called Xplorer360 I think, but it makes full or partial HDD backups from USB

i moved my forza 3 data, select move instead of copy and it works fine.

I don't know if the MS version works or not, I have never tried, i just read that the deal extreme one definately worked and so thought at just under £5, if it didn't work it was still useful as a HDD transfer kit anyway
