Xbox 360 VGA Cable Advice

I'm looking to get one of these, and they are £15.97 from Amazon, or £4.75 from fleabay (seller has over 56,000 feedback).

The descriptions of both items looks the same:-

- The High-Definition connection for TVs and monitors with VGA inputs.
- DV-15S Standard VGA Connector.
- Video output settings of 480p, 720p, or 1080i.
- Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound output.
- 8-foot long shielded cable.

Will there be much (or even any) difference between the Amazon one and the fleabay one?

I had gotten a cheap one, worked on my projector but not a monitor.
I then bought the offical one.
I would recommend the offical one.

There will not be much difference, I would not spend £16.00 on one if you can get one for a fiver.

People always selling them on here between 5-7 quid delivered

Thanks for the offer, i'm going to try the one from the 'bay... although if it's no good i might be back!

It's for a HDTV, so hopefully it will work.

Why are you using VGA with a HD TV?

Surely the HD composite lead will be better? you will get 1080i with that

I assume you mean component?

I am currently using that at the mo (my hdmi socket on the tv is broken!), and I read that the vga will give the same performance. I use a manual splitter box to flick between the sky (also on the component cable) and the xbox, so using the vga input will mean I don't have to use the manual splitter (which will be handy if, say, the cat is on my lap and I want to go from Sky to the xbox or vice versa).

I would sell you the cheap version one, it uses component to VGA for 4.50 posted today.
Good luck anyhow.

OK, so the ebay cable arrived (350223669528). I plugged it into my HDTV and the picture is just standard definition. When going to the display settings in the xbox there are no HD options to choose from, just other standard definition resolutions...

I have flicked the switch on the side of the cable and rebooted the xbox, but still no HD options..

Do you reckon it's a faulty cable, or have I missed something obvious??

Edit.. I manually set the resolution to 1280x720, and it looked better. It was still a far cry from the component cable I was using before (and shall be using still!!), so much for it producing the same quality!

Oh well, live and learn.
