Yes they provide warranty if you don't have the reciept.

And theres a little sticker on the front of the xbox behind the faceplate that should be intact over the two half's of the case.

If the console has been registered with them from purchase then yes, no reciept needed just the serial number.
It should have a seal, if that is broken then the warranty is void.
If console gets red rings then Microsoft add an extra 3 years of warranty for this problem only.

Don't think the consoles been registered, its 2 months old, can it still be registered, or is it too late?

Can be registered any time.

The warranty period will run from either the first time it was registered (usually providing the receipt to prove the date) or it will go by the manufacture date which is also printed on the console. In most cases these won't be hugely different, but if you are unlucky you could get one that has been sat in a warehouse for a while.

And others have said there are anti-tamper seals on the metal casing of the 360 to prove if it has been opened up or not. you are allowed to remove the faceplate at the front, and I think one of the anti tamper seals is visible once you have done that.

Do the red rings have to appear in the first year to gain three years warranty for them, or do you have three years cover for red rings as standard?

The standard warranty will cover that problem and any other. Im not sure if they add the 3 years in the first year if you get that problem but I'm thinking they would do since it's a common problem. I do know that if the warranty is over and you get the red rings they will extend the warranty for a further 3 years just for the rrod. I got mine when my warranty was over and rang Microsoft up and they added the 3 years for me, and sent off my console and got it repaired and was back with me in the same week, altough sometimes it can take longer.
If the console has a Japser chip set then this is more likely to reduce you getting the rrod, the failure rate with these in are very low, they come on all new consoles.
