Now i've never had one of these before and I've heard that the Warrenty is for 3 Years? Is this true? Also do i need to register the console now and how do I do so if i have to? The previous owner said that it's not been registered by them so i'm clear to do so if I wish, i've also got the GAME Receipt aswell ;)

just broke a glass aswell while typing this! :@

"Today, Microsoft announced that it is once again revamping its warranty scheme for the Xbox 360. After mounting anecdotal evidence of the system's failure rate due to the dreaded "red ring of death" (three flashing red lights on the console's front panel), the publisher is changing its warranty to cover systems affected by the red ring for three years from the date of purchase"

Now you want to register it right?
BTW You also have 2 months or so of the warranty that covers anything.

Create your gamertag etc. then go on xbox.com set your account up and there should be a register your console in the support bit.

Now if you ever have to ring them up or anything like that tell them it was a gift otherwise you won't get the warranty transferred

Yes you can register it online.

Your not allowed to transfer warranty into second hand in the UK.

Gift makes it okay because you didn't pay anything for it ;-).

What's your PSN ID btw?

just go to the ms website, register the consoles serial number in your name and other details, if you have the reciept, keep it safe as you have a full 1 year warranty from the purchase date on that reciept for any issue you come accross with ANYTHING that came with it, (controllers, headset, AV cables, power brick) as well as any faults like not reading games, making too much noise, red lights etc.

After that first year is up, you are only covered for 3 red lights (RROD - red ring of death) and the E74 (one red light) error, for the next 2 years (making 3 years in total)

If they say that warranty date starts after the date on your reciept, you only have to call the freephone support number and say you want to update the warranty to the correct date by EMAILING them a photo of your reciept.

They will tell you the email address (after going through security etc) and after you email it they phone you back within 48 hours to confirm it has been updated.

Sorted!
