Hi all,
Managed to get my lad an adaptor for his xbox so that he can play xbox live, trouble is it came with no instructions.
We plugged it in and the light on the xbox just stays on red it doesn't go green.
Does anyone know how to set these up.
We have wireless broadband at home if that makes a difference.

Had this happen the other day with a 360, it was the wireless signal from the router that was not compatible on any channel with or without encryption. Works perfect with a new router with and without encryption, first time I have had that happen.

But worth checking, if you are using WEP or WPA make sure you type the code in exactly the same uppercase/lowercase.
If it still doesn't work try it with a different router or just use a LAN cable instead of the wireless dongle.

Hope it helps :)

WAHOO, You guys are great.
I finally managed it but what a carry on, i had to go to my router open it up, add xbox onto it.Only problem was for it to go wireless i had to disable the security on my router, for now it's working but will have to play about with it. Not bad for a dumb, blonde female with nil computer experience.
Tons of thanks to you all.xxx

Wouldn't recommend leaving your security off, even setup something like mac address filtering to keep the unwashed off your network.

If I were you I'd re-enable the security.

The problem is the speed touch settings use a security feature called MAC filtering.

If you look on your wireless adapter for the xbox there should be a MAC id number. something like this 1A:2B:3C:4D:5E

Go into the settings of your router/AP and add this MAC address to the list that should give you success.

If in the unlikely situation there is not a MAC id you need to use the find device function on the router/AP, locate teh device then add it to the allowed list.

If I recall correctly, you can go through the xBox setup menu and find the wireless adaptor MAC address there. I don't think it's printed on the adaptor itself.
