Xbox 360 with RROD

Do Microsoft still fix the RROD ? Are there any situations that they don't ?

Mine has the RROD, rendering it virtually useless. However I bought it like that and don't know if anyone has opened it (I haven't at least).

It was manufactured in 2006 if that makes any difference...

Only for three years... Time a buy a new one (or get that one fixed!)
#2
You could try an x-clamp fix, but it may not fix it, and if it does it would be teetering on the edge.
#3
Might just sell it...do RROD consoles have any value whatsoever ? I guess P&P is an obstacle...
#4
Still phone up microsoft and have a whine.

I'm really no good at anything to do with repairs.....even with instructions :-D

Agree with Adam - worthwhile giving MS a call. If its 3 years from the day it was sold the console might not have been sold until 2007 (if manufactured end of 2006)..........

This is pretty good advice actually... It's a bit hit and miss depending on who you get in Microsofts mumbai call centre but sometimes they'll fix out of warranty consoles for free.
#8
also worth remembering the 3 year warranty is an extension of rights not the be all and end all depends if you are up for a fight though if you push this

Ring them up and when they ask when it was bought say Dec 2007. It isnt manufatcured and sold the same day

Thanks everyone. It was manufactured July 2006. But I'll give it a go...

Let us know what happens?

That would be the non HDMI noisy unreliable model, your better off just getting an Xbox Arcade when the next £90 ish deal comes up rather than to even think of paying to have it fixed.

Add any extra bits it has to the arcade, hard drive, etc

Must..... Not..... Type..... Temptation.... too much...

As opposed to the later HMDI, Noisy, Unreliable model...

In all fairness reports suggest that 360's manufactured towards the back end of 2009, a full 4 years after the machine was launched, (ah... *gets nostaglic* launch day... Madden 06, Perfect Dark Zero... I loved you £100 pounds worth...) seem to have largely alleviated the problem and given the 360 a similiar failure rate to the Ps3.

I still have a megacd that works you know...

Since December I have both systems and now know the "Good" and the "Bad" points of BOTH systems which I am more than happy to share . so so don't worry about the "Temptation" type away.

Register it on xbox.com if it errors, it has already been registered. If not it will give you the warranty date.

It is normally 3 years and 3 months from manufacture.

Read his post, he goes on to say that they have similar failure rates, he's just winding people up, and you took the bait.
On a side note please point out one of your posts where you say something negative about the 360, or for that matter something positive about the PS3, not the games, the hardware.

Back on topic, i would suggest contacting Microsoft, it's gotta be worth a try.

Read my post I added the point about ", he goes on to say that they have similar failure rates," and I was joking to as I was with him on a post yesterday.

Back to what I have already been through with you repeating yourself again -
You mean the point I said about the PS3 should let you do full installs now that 250gb(as I have) is bottom end size, "OH THAT IS SUCH A TERRIBLE THING TO SAY" isn't it or that I don't like the USB ports only being on the front.
The PS3 is new to me so those are the things that I most noticed

How can I comment on anything else not already said on the 360 since I have had it since launch ? when they release some new HARDWARE I will be more than happy to comment if it's rubbish or not i.e NATAL etc.

Now go back to reading through my posts as you always do (Brrrrr) and stop making out you are not a fanboy..

Blah, blah, blah....
Speaking of Natal, now that they've removed the chip from within to reduce costs, and it's having to use 20% of the 360's processing power, do you still think it sounds interesting, i've been reading a lot of news stories about it on VG247 and EDGE and the general thoughts are that there will be less AAA titles using the system because of this.
PS. i'm not really interested in either motion control systems, i just wondered what you thought as you were interested in it when it was announced.

I don't think anything until I use it and that goes for any other hardware for the 360 or PS3 now that I own both and I am not going to comment on someones "general thoughts".
I have ordered a PS3 official headset should be here today so if you want my comments on that when it finally arrives your more than welcome Mr Blah...

If you would, please. Currently using a cheap Nokia mobile phone headset, so i would genuinely be interested in your thoughts.
