Where does it fail if you try the XBL connection test?
#2
were on atm playing fifa

NAT settings might be strict which means your router is blockin the traffic to it

could try www.portforward.com

should be able to find your router on there and it will give u a step by step of how to do it

maybe your firewall is blocking it also might have to manually accept the connection

my daughters bf had that the other day we changed the cable over with the computer and it worked fine maybe dirt or dust .
#5
How do you have it connected?

Within 1 second of doing the test, it says unable to connect, or something like that.

Its using the Network Adaptor to connect via the router which is upstairs.

It worked absolutely fine last night but not now or this morning.

If the test fails straight away it would suggest it's not seeing the router maybe. Has it ever worked?

Yep, for the last 9 months up to yesterday, with no problems

Can you try and confirm exactly where the connection test fails and any errors that it states?

This may sound silly but have you tried pulling the adapter out of the xbox and plugging it back in?

Have taken it out and put it back in, same thing.

As soon as I press "ok" to commence the test, it fails immediately.

Is there anywhere on the xbox where you can see any available networks and signal strength at all? I haven't used wireless on the xbox for ages so can't remember all of the screens sorry.

Thats ok, appeciate u trying to help. When I go onto the "configure network" option, everything is zero "0", wont find anything at all.

Have you ever noticed if other networks appear there at all? (Neighbours etc. )
#14
un plug your wireless adapter, wait a few secs, plug it back in.
I always get this after i move my xbox from downstairs to upstairs.
Or from house to house, odd i know.
Tell me if it worked :)

edit- just read someone else already told u to do that.

With my bthome hub i sometimes have to switch it off at the wall then switch it back on?

Hmmm. The router hasn't been moved to a different location maybe?

To be honest, my money is on a fault somewhere. It may be worth connecting the adapter to one of the controller USB ports to see if this makes any difference maybe? If this does't help I would probably be thinking about either trying to borrow another adapter from somebody or take yours to a different xbox for testing mate.

Hmm this problem has a simple fix

1 Sit down calmly have a drink
2 Turn your xbox off by this i mean turn it off do not turn it back on because i didnt say turn it back on at some point yet
3 Unplug your Cable (rj45 ) that gives your xbox internet

4 Now Go up to your router Turn that thing off by that i mean at the wall Now wait 5 seconds
erm make that 10 seconds not fast counting but nice and slow now your router will fully be off

5 Unplug the wire that goes into your router that at the other side goes into your xbox also unplug from xbox
6 COnnect it back into router then go down connect it back into xbox

7 Now Go upstairs and turn on your router
8Now go downstairs and turn on your xbox You should be able to connect to live

Reason for this is -
Sometimes the router becomes a bit funny for many reasons 1 simple one is your xbox wire going to the router is loose this can cause simple problems for almost anyone you tend to completely not be connected to internet
In the worst case scenario ask the man of the house if he has been messing with router settings you wont believe how many times people try to secure up the network and kick someone else off xbox live without knowing

If you need additional help you can send me a message i will give you my 0208 number you can call me and i will take you step by step through what you can do but i think the above should fix it for you

NO DOUBT!

Thats all well and good, but hes on a wireless connection, not wired. Is the xbox a "chipped version" if so its possibly banned.
