so last night, for the third time my xbox died and i spent today starting the very awkward repair process microsoft keep putting me through, so having a bit of a clearout of my old games while the xbox is repaired, and wondering whether to look into getting a Wii or ps3 with the money while its being repaired. does anyone have any advice.

i love the 360, but the PS3 seems to have a lot more unique games and with the wii i could play my beloved zelda games once more

Wii is fun for a while but you can easily get bored of it..........

thats what i was worried about, have they come down in price much yet? i think after zelda and mario id be bored stiff
#3
Wii sports is good for about 5 minutes.
Unless you're 12 I'd say don't get a Wii.
#4
20 so probably wouldnt suit me, i didnt think id get my moneysworth from it, ps3 then?

Mine just died 2 days ago with E 74, so I'm going to ring up in a bit, Def get a xbox again, i have all consoles and Xbox gets my vote by a mile, amazon have a deal for £135 (arcade) which includes the burnout paradise pack with 2 other games + extra controller + one free game i.e mine would be gta iv if I bought it. but that's only if your looking for a new 360.

Plus xbox done the deal with sky so soon you can have sky on your tv where ever the xbox is without a saterlite, providing you have xbox live.

cheers J, by the time i sold on the accessories and the dead xbox i wouldnt be out of pocket too much

get a ps3. i got a 360 and a ps3 and if it wasnt for the fct i could flash my 360 i would not keep it. PS3 is the console i can jus switch on and play all the time.

very good deals around for the slim as well or get a used phat for sub £200 easily.

ps3 the control pad absolutely sucks badly its the worst controller ever made. You cannot just get up and play a game as it requires updates constantly, i had to wait like a couple of hours to play something when i first get it lol
#9
looks like i should just be patient really and keep to xbox

If you dont do online gaming then go for the ps3. But bare in mind games will cost more.

Wii was good whilst it lasted i gave it go enjoyed it for a month, sold it, got another one enjoyed it for month sold it lol.
#12
Still if your onto xbox now it will almost be impossible to try and move to another console, trust me lol, i only played my ps3 about 5 times in a year.
#13
We have a wii, its literally not been used for 8 months.

I got a PS3 and never played on my xbox 360 again, I'm keeping it for The Ballad of Gay Tony that's it. It doesn't update that much, and you only need to INSTALL a game once which takes a hour at THE most depending on your connection, the games are really good loving the collection. I was also worried about getting bored of it etc. but I haven't gotten bored of it. It's really about personal preference but I got it and haven't regretted it and probably never will.
But I gotta say the 360 has a better customer service and i've always been pleased with it.
I don't mind the PS3 controller got used to it now.

After you have updated it and then every game you want to play by that time it's time for bed :p

IMO don't get a Wii. Got one for christmas a few years back near release. Bar from a few good games (zelda/mario) it has nothing going for it.
I never used it literally for almost 1 1/2 years until I got Okami the other week, even then I got bored of that very quickly.
PS3 is my main machine, then it's my 360 which I only play now and again (caus I'm afraid it might C**K up again) seeing as it is about my 6th!!

Jonesy - how much would you want for the dead xbox?
#18
I love my ps3, xbox 360 has it's elements but just kept breaking.
#19
Vengod - ive sent it for repair as it is covered by the extended warranty. surely if its the third time they have had to repair it i should get more compensation than a months xbox live??

if anyones interested in any of the stuff going have a look here

At a cost, and not HD, currently trialling it at the moment.

Not many people can say that about their ps3. Maybe yours is offline.

Plenty of people have no problems with it, i think if it was so bad they would have changed it significantly between ps1 - ps2 and ps3.

Online gaming is perfectly fine on the ps3

The novely of the Wii does soon wear off. I wouldn't bother

PS3 v 360? Well, we'll never reach an agreement on here. Personally i prefer the Playstation pad to the XBOX pad. The 360 is flashable, but prone to breakage, whereas the PS3 is fairly robust, but can't be flashed.

if i go out and buy a ps3 package today and sell it after a month if it doesnt suit me how much should i expect to lose? does anyone know? thinking about havin a look at the local adverts today see if i can get a cheap used one
#25
Example: you could buy one for about £270 then be expected to sell for about £140-£200
