negative rep?

This usually only ever happens if the console gets moved or knocked while the disc is spinning.

Is it still playable? If so don't worry too much about it, and install it to HD. Otherwise it's not too hard to sort out - scratch is only in the plastic, not the data. Take it to GAME or Gamestation and they will sort the disc out for a few quid I believe and make it as good as new. Otherwise you could polish it out yourself with T-Cut or something. Personally I'd go with the former suggestion.

The ring scratches happen more often if you play the 360 vertically, if so you might want to lie it flat to stop it happening in future.

My son has had this a few times,we decided it was because his xbox was on its side, he led it down and hasnt had any problems since.
On the ones that he had trouble with, they were all new games, we tried taking them back to the shop but they werent interested so we rang the game makers (numbes usually in manual, dont foget if its an 0870 use the site fo the alternative) and for I think it was about ten quid a game they sent out new replacements, a pain but cheaper than buying the game new.
You can also get some scratch remover to recover cds and dvds, it depends on how deep the scratch is, if its only surface it acts like a polish and polishes the scratch out.
hope this helps

Still won't work when you put your disc in though as the 360 periodically checks the disc and when it hits a kanckered part the game will lock. Blockbuster can attempt to remove for you.......only a few quid and if they can't fix it there is no charge.

It was vertical, usually lies falt but had to move my console as the missus had friends watching that x-factor tosh. So it's her fault

If all else fails - MS used to offer to replace the disc but I think it was £10 or something - still cheaper than buying it new though...

Edit - still doing it but a 4-6 week delay for delivery and COD6 isn't on the list but might be worth ringing them

I got my copy from sainsbury and played it for a few days without any problem, Then it started to freeze. I noticed that the disk had a burn mark on similar to when you burn music onto cds. I took it back and they replaced it without any problems. Maybe worth taking it back to the store you purchased it from!

If you moved the console from horizontal to vertical while the disc was in it, that'll be your problem...

No disc was removed whilst console was moved, then it was played in the upright position as opposed to it's usually flat position.

£2 blockbuster sorted it.

Good stuff. My littlun managed to do the same thing to one of his £40 (at the time) Sonic the hedgehog games!

Grrr, didn't work thought it had. Mid way through a live game I get the disc error message.

It wasnt the fact it was upright rather than flat down as my xbox is always and always has been used upright

Just a coincidence I guess, raging about it.
