I bought an online 12 month xbox live sub from instantlivecards.com on friday, they sent a code to me but it had been used already.
I contacted them via there support ticket scheme and they said contact microsoft, however as i had paid via paypal i logged a complaint with them.
The seller once again contacted me through the paypal resolution centre and said contact microsoft. So i tried to claim my £26.99 through paypal.
Paypal closed the case in the sellers favor so i rang them to complain. Paypal say that in the terms and conditions it states that buyer protection through paypal only counts on purchases made on ebay and never for any digitaly downloaded codes etc even if bought on ebay.
I then contacted microsoft and was asked to send them an email with the scaned card i was sent by instantlivecards.com and also the paypal payment conformation.
Microsoft have contacted me this morning and confirmed that the code has previously been used but they can not do anything about it as the code was bought from an unautorised dealer.
I asked microsoft to cancel the code and re-issue it to me,but they refused saying it was origonaly bought via an autorised retailer and could not be canceled.

What do i do now?
DO NoT USE instantlivecards.com they sometimes send used codes
ONLY feel safe using paypal for buying on ebay and not downloadable codes or content, Basicaly you may as well pay via paypal gift.

Report them to your bank, see if they will support you via their fraud department.

Have you got tried getting back to them with the response you got from Microsoft? If you are actually in contact with them after you've parted with your money, the chances are they aren't trying to scam you. They probably think you're trying to pull a fast one.

Personally I always purchase physical cards sourced from the UK, as you don't where these "instant codes" come from. I've also heard of US codes voiding people's accounts in the UK.

I have been a member of Xbox Live for 6 years and my subscription doesn't expire until 2011.

see what thought did........................

and T&Cs are there to be read no matter how small

Alas many people do not realise that paying via Paypal on any other site aside from Ebay means you are only covered for item not received NOT one that's not as described(SNAD)

Also as you found out, doesn't cover you for non tangible items either.

Got a 12 month sub for less than £25 on eBay - but he sells them cheaper if someone recommends a friend !

If anyone wants the details, just pm me & I'll send them on.
