2100 Points Code Isn't Working

Microsoft are saying that it's already been redeemed when I took it out of retail packaging last night. The code in question is...

F3HDM-P6J7G-2FF6M-F4PBC-W74M6

I've rung MS up and they keep telling me the code has already been used but they can't tell me who by - Can anyone tell me what I can do?

Lol, nice try :p - Have had two people try it and it said 'This code is not valid' last night and this morning.

Have tried again this evening to see that it now says 'This code has already been redeemed'.

Checked today - they said they can't as I have no proof I've not redeemed it...

Have you asked Microsoft whether they can tell you the date and time at which the code was used? If it pre-dates your order, then perhaps they'd be willing to pass that information along to the company you purchased it from.

They said it was used last night, but they can't give a specific time - They have told me it's been redeemed to a gamertag thats not mine either...

If it was valid, it definetly isn't now. But in all seriousness , thats a weird one, never heard of it happening before.
#9
was it scratched off when you received it?
#10
OP where did you buy it from ?
#11
How do you know these two people that 'tried it' didn't lie to you, well at least one of 'em. But then again you tried it on your own system first.

It was a sealed card from gamestation... Went to see instore today and they said they could never refund a points card... And nah - it was a sealed pack.

I had this happen before with a halo reach points card but that was because of an MS error - they duly gave out a new code to me via a message - this time it's my fault apparently...

Was the number/code used after you bought it,will Microsoft tell you the Time the code was used & if yes then it maybe was used just before you bought it & if you still have the receipt then I can't see how Game can not refund.
These cases can be open & sealed again without anyone knowing & someone could have taken it back to the shop for refund with it still appearing sealed.
Only other 2 reasons are Microsoft have got a glitch in it's data or someone at the shop used the code.

I scratched the silver strip off it - it was apparently used when I tried to put the code in but not by my gamertag?!
#15
dont suppose there was another gamertag logged onto your xbox was there?

No - the guy said it had been credited to an account not linked with my xbox.

They said they couldn't tell me since I'm not the account holder...

If i was you I'd take a photo of your card and receipt, and tell them there must be a glitch, I would ask them to look further in to it

Are you absolutely sure it was your account signed in.
And are you certain the two people you asked have not added it to theirs either by mistake or accident.
I do think you should ask for an exact time and a possible location that the number was redeemed.

I had this happen to me years ago, funnily enough also purchased from Gamestation, got sorted after calling MS they gave me an email address to send my complaint to, I attached a scan of my receipt and the card with panel scratched off and after about 3 days they emailed me back with a new code. Apparently some people use random code generators and that is one possible way of this happening.

I did ask but the person said it was confidential - Unfortunately he really didn't seem to want to help at all...

Whats the e-mail address mate?

Sorry, this was circa 2007 and for an email address I no longer use so I can't check. Just call them up again and ask for an email address to send your complaint to, or Google it.

What he said.

Your receipt should have a time saying when it was purchased and MS should know when it was redeemed. You can maybe get a reference code from MS relating to your query as to when it was redeemed and then take it to Gamestation as proof you could not have used it.

Was it scratched off when you opened it?

Look at it from Microsoft's point of view.
You may not have the card & may have generated the code yourself but found it has already been redeemed.

Also the details of any other customer should not be disclosed as part of data protection policies.

As mentioned above, take photographs of the card & the receipt in order to submit these to Microsoft's customer services/complaints team.

Of course, this is not foolproof; there is nothing to suggest the image supplied is the card you bought at the date/time of the receipt, but they are going to have to trust your statements to them.

I would also contact Gamestation’s customer services to make them aware you have had to contact Microsoft (even though they should be doing this on your behalf).

Good luck.

It sounds like the 2 people you asked to verify if the code was working or not may have by accident, added the points to their account. Usually if the code was hacked by a code generator, it would probably have been used ages ago and then you would have a clear case for Microsoft to send you a new code as your receipt of purchase would show clearly that you purchased it after the event. But for it to be redeemed the same night you are having problems entering it yourself sounds too coincidental to me. Are these 2 people good friends of yours?

Also it’s worth noting that if you have trouble redeeming a code via your console, you can have luck entering it via your PC if you log onto Xbox Live that way. I’ve had to do this in past too.

Here’s a post I found, hope it is of some use but bear in mind it is from 2008. You really should call them back up and get a confirmed email address from them:

I had a similar problem with a 2100 Microsoft Points card recently. I bought it from Amazon.co.uk and when it arrived it stated that the code was 'INVALID' when I tried to enter it. I tried it a few more times with no luck so I gave M$ a call. The girl on the other end was very helpful once we broke down the language barrier. As mentioned above I also had to send photographic proof - I was not overly happy doing this so I spammed them with about 10 hi res pictures - card, code, box, invoice and so on. Anyway about 2 days later I got a phone call from M$ telling me to check my e-mail account and sure enough they had e-mailed me not 1 but 2 2100 ms point codes. I should mention at this point that Amazon had basically told me to go F**K myself. So call MS and work it out with them and don't bother with Gamestop. Incidently the email address given to me by the girl at the call centre was [email protected].

Why is Gamestop mentioned if the issue was with a purchase from Amazon?

BFN,

It's from an American forum/website and the original poster was posting he purchased his game from Walmart and then another poster came along and mentioned about similar instances of this happening in Gamestop in America then I assume this UK person found the thread and posted his experience. I can't seem to post the link but a quick Google will reveal it.

For what it's worth, informing Gamestation you are going to take it further means nothing to them, they won't be bothered in the slightest. The issue here lies with Microsoft, but as I said, all you need to do is email them with the details and they should just send you a new code.
