xbox live sky router help

For the last month or so my connection keeps dropping on xbox live.. sometimes it happens as im trying to get into a game and other times it happens when I turn the xbox on. If I reset the router it works fine again for a while but since the router is in the house next door (live in the flat on the side of a house) Its a pain in the ****. I have a sky router if that helps, my nat type is open and im on channel 13 on my router. The neighbours are on 1 and the signal seems strongest on 13

There is also an xbox in the house next door and it happens to that one too. They can both run at the same time though as we play online together sometimes

When I do a connection test it fails on the internet --> xboxlive bit

any ideas??

Does the main fuse board from the next door give your flat power? or has it got its own main fuse board?

OP' gone... anyway OP what I was getting at with the above question is if they run from the same main fuse board then you could maybe use a homeplug setup :)

Both xboxs are wireless and there on a seperate fuse board.. Didnt realise they had to be from the same one to use them?

Remove all wires and start again , then log into your router and fix your ip address so xbox gets the same one everytime you log on , let us know how you get on .

Ahh yes the multiple Xbox's on one router issue, its the NAT issue of having two XBL connections on open NAT on a single Public IP Address, a typical fix is to get a router that can support multiple xbox's unfortunately.

Any chance you could point me in the direction of one?

Cheers

If you have sky its probably a netgear router which will support multiple connections also if you change router even to another netgear you will have to get the settings from your originak router and transfer them. Are you sharing the same router with your neighbour cos if you are when your playing together you will be halfing the connection speed so ifvyour getting 2 meg you will be playing with 1 each whichbis way too low to be online gaming also wireless lessens your speed on top of that. I would suggest if at all possible dont play at the same time and try to get it wired to the router.

WTF, the wireless 1/2 duplex issues would be negligible on a broadband link for XBox's, the issues is the NAT ability with XBL, since you are trying to hide 2 identical devices behind a SINGLE PUBLIC IP Address (NAT) to the same service. The easy way to demostrate this is, yes, if you have one on at a time you will beable to achieve Open NAT independently. However turn them on at the same and one will have Open NAT and the other Strict because of the router and XBL being unable to process the NAT to 2 devices on a Single IP effectively.

@ dc7911 Its not too slow as we regularly play Modern warfare or black ops together with no lag issues whatsoever. weve been playing like this for nearly two years. Its only more recent we are having connection issues when i turn my xbox on. The speed when playing is fine generally no lag at all..

@ Alfonse yes what your saying makes sense. My Nat is usually open and his changes to moderate when im online. It doesnt change to strict however.

Is there no way to create two seperate ips?

Would this still be the problem if it happens when nothing else is attached to the router? No other xboxs are on but still struggling with the connection..
