Well Technically the PS4 plays PS3 games and has a library of compatible titles that far outweighs the XB1 BC Library with Playstation Now.

Only that involves a steep subscription each month and it requires internet as its a streaming service..

The XB1 though is all hardware costs you nothing to play those BC other than the cost of the Disc/Download if you do not own it already.

The Xbox does not play from the 360 disc. It uses the disc as a license, then downloads the game and runs it on an internal emulator.

There's an impressive list of games now, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Black Ops etc

Not all games

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility library has more than 320 games in it, with more being added each week or so. Project Scorpio will also have backwards compatibility it has been confirmed.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Monkey Island 2: Special Edition were the two most recent 360 games given free as part of Xbox Gold Membership.

This one one of the reasons I have decided to go for an Xbox when I upgrade from my old PS3 as Microsoft have given you that option without a monthly fee so screw you Sony. ;)

You could always keep your PlayStation 3, & buy a PlayStation 4 console outright.

BC is great, no disputing that, I mean why wouldn't you want it? I've not got an XBO but I always keep my old hardware anyway and bought a PS4 to play new stuff. Certainly would be convenient if I could play the odd old title on my PS4 though (they should just allow it via PS Now for any digital purchases IMO but that's another issue)

I agree, for that reason alone it's seriously worth considering picking up an Xbox One over a PS4.

So OP, you don't subscribe to XBL then?
And haven't for some time. :D

If you can afford it go for both as PlayStation offers great single player exclusives while Xbox is much better online, multiplayer etc.

I'm still on PS3! :3 that should let you know what I can afford :p

Totally respect that as gaming can be an expensive hobby! Maybe think about holding off until Project Scorpio is released and the PS4 Pro comes down in price, that way you don't get left behind as the standard Xbox One and PS4 are slowly phased out. Gives you a chance to think about what would be best for you!

Apart from graphics and a new controller, the new generation hardly brings anything new to the table, I have most consoles but still use ps3, I use Xbox one for BC so have no need for the 360 any longer. Ps3 is immense for gameplay.

The only problem with remaining on PS3 or XBox 360 is the lack of new content being released.... Saying that I have tons of games I haven't started yet so in no rush to upgrade unless a bargain comes along!!!

It's because no decent exclusives coming to Xbox One for a while. :D

2017 is going to be PlayStation's year when it comes to exclusives but it is about time as they have been few and far between since the launch of the PS4. 2016 went to Xbox but just the case of some years you have them, some years you don't.
