Xbox rrod out of warrenty question

As above, my xbox is 5 months out of warrenty, and wanted to know if anybody had been this period of time out of warranty and still had their console repaired for them? I've seen a few threads on here where posters have had their consoles repaired a few days/ weeks out of warranty, but never a few months after

Amy advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Alex

I believe the warranty is based on your purchase date, not the actual manufacturing date...

If you still find yourself out of warranty, it's still fairly cheap to just have it repaired. Or you can find a kit online for you to do the repair yourself, with specific instructions, etc.

I brought it 3 christmas' ago, so it was registered on the 25th, the first day I used it, so 3 years 5 months old

my xbox failed on the rrod last week, though is over 6 years old, so no chance of a free repair from xbox.
Got myself a kit online for £3.20 delivered, including emailed pdf instructions from http://www.techguyuk.com/home
I'm a complete novice at these things i.e i didn't know that the faceplate could come off.
But in less than 2 hours i had the xbox working like new again, and it runs a lot quieter.

If you have no luck with the warranty, consider this option as it is easier than it sounds.

Still register it I have one here from Mid 2006 and it registered and was sent fine.

Argue "Microsoft should be responsible for repairing any console that fails due to a design flaw or manufacturing defect regardless of the age of the system"
Never say you used any third party accessories or manhandled the console in any way (eg. moving while on).

Just keep arguing.
