My xbox is scratching the outer rim of the disc and whenever i put a disc in it, it says put this disc into an xbox 360 console or the disc cannot be read screen.

What can i do? Does it need to be sent back?

Thanks!

Ring Microsoft but they will tell you its out of warranty, only the 3rings has the 3year warranty ad will charge you 70 odd quid. Is it doing it to all disks? Sounds like your laser has been knocked slightly out of place. Is your box standing up or on its side because ive read a lot of issues with the xbox being upright. Obviously dont move the xbox whilst playing as this will scratch the disks and knock the laser out of place.

Your best bet is to get the rrod and send it back to Microsoft for free

is it stood up or led down try it in the other possition (dont move it while its on with a disk in it

if not take it back and explain the issue ie your paying £40 for a disc thats lasting 2 weeks and its not right make a big fuss and get a new xbox :P

I've got the same problem, which it no longer allows me to play any games whatsoever.

There's a way to make your console have the ring of death and then you can send it to MS, who will honour the 3 years warranty for this issue alone......otherwise it'll cost about £70 for them to repair it.

Alternatively, you could buy a replacement for the non working dvd drive but MS should cover it since their shoddy console has caused so many problems.

I've owned every console in the last 20 years (apart from Sony) and I've never had a single issue until the 360. :x

but if i make it get the 3 red lights they will fix the console they wont replace it will they

I think they give you a replacement refurbished console and then send your console off for repairs.....at least that's what they used to do before they made a replacement that was a bit less problematic.

Can anyone confirm what the current procedures are?

Your xbox gets sent off to Germany and more often than not, they just send you out a previously repaired xbox before they even look at the fault on youirs so you will like get a different console. For the last 6months Microsoft have been replacing the drives on repaired consoles with the newest Liteons. Gotta be worth a shot, saves you 70 quid,

You send console to Microsoft and about 3 weeks later they returm the console. All my pals taht sent theirs off in lasst 6 months got a Liteon drive back which they didnt have before.

What more info do you require?? If your 360 is still scratching disks then it needs repairing.

it says put this disc into an xbox 360 console or the disc cannot be read screen.

If its doing the above when you put any 360 game in then your laser has died on you and needs replacing

]You can also get the games replaced via the Games support site at a small cost e.g. Call of Duty world at War scratched £12 for replacement. takes between 3-6 weeks to rx new disc..

I had problem with laser burn and red ring sent to Germany to be fixed. Just waiting for it to come back, X Box have extended the warrantly to 3 years for red ring of death.

Never have x box standing up, that was my error

A small cost?? Over 1/3 of the original price in order to play a game thats been damaged by a faulty machine is not cheap
